…..and a 40-year-old female resident of Jefferson County died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from complications associated with measles.
I’m doing my small part to see that there are no more victims of fully preventable killers.
I heard there was a flu season coming too, so I decided not to participate this past Labor Day weekend, as a…[Read more]

World of Woo: Pete Hegseth.
Pete Keg’s-Breath and Bobby Brainworm are the kind of idiots who say: “Welp! Ye go to war with the military you have!”
Uh, no! Not if you want to win that war!
During the last war the U.S. won–World War II, it’s been that long–we didn’t fight with the Military we had! We took the Military we had and made…[Read more]

Artificial Intelligence 1 day, 15 hours agoMan oh man are the algos bringing me doom and gloom. Beginning of end times. I reserve judgment. Hell if i know. And yet i have to say that if AI is doing all of these unexpected things and changes are exponential and superintelligence is unavoidable with recursive learning then….
Then what? Then scenarios involving our dystopia or extinction…[Read more]

Ferguson says a borderline contradictory and stupid statement at end of vid in which he asserts something like ‘if we maintain our faith in god and uphold the values of a free society’.
You are indeed right here and it’s more than borderline contradictory. Like I said earlier:
Leaving aside insidental God-talk at the end, he has cha…

Artificial Intelligence 3 days, 17 hours agoI oughtn’t quibble when i see the ocean as it is and except a dribble.
Good stuff Reg. And now the dribble. If it is rebel with too many causes that seems inapposite when the predicate is algorithms driving the soon to be drowned in belief to one cause. And that susceptibility to that particular cause results in more of the same and therefore…[Read more]

“Rebels with too many causes.”. That is genius! May I borrow that when suitable?
Perhaps what social media and AI need is an algorithm that detects and mines for opposing viewpoints and fallacies as well as provides fact-checking. It couldn’t save everyone from the rabbit hole, but could guide users to watch their step.

Artificial Intelligence 3 days, 21 hours agoI think that Ferguson has characterized the mechanism correctly. Social Media rarely creates extremism from nothing. I like the term “activating” and it is aptly used. The algorithm finds susceptible people and supplies them with validating material and then connects them to communities in which their prejudice is normalized. “You have found…[Read more]

Here’s a video where historian Niall Ferguson explains how AI has been weaponized by the algorithms of social media and AI geared toward rage-baiting, by the contrarian drift of youth towards older generations, and the ability to spread a message worldwide in seconds. The end result is what we see every day. Leaving…[Read more]

I’ve only seen still-lifes of Ghibli. They are just sickeningly sweet, not at all like humans even in good times, especially during workplace injuries.

Reg,
Curious to know how you see AI’s impact on us in near and long term.
Well, I seen a T-shirt promoting workplace safety whose imprint was created by AI. It showed a big-eyed Ghibli person smiling in obliviousness as they slipped on a wet floor, destined for a head concussion with said floor.
In an AI-produced promo on the break r…[Read more]

Great video on data poisoning as a line of defense against data scraping. (I say this as one of millions of signatories of John Perry Barlow’s “A Declaration of the Indepence of Cyberspace.”). Combined with hostile takeovers by shareholders who don’t want suits from creators eating into profits, this is a good strategy.
Now aren’t you glad…[Read more]
