Good point, I think the terms are scientific Validity and Soundness. As these refer to the actual premises & conclusion of a persons arguments.
Scientific Integrity refers to honesty and transparency of scientific research.

The calculations are referring to the chance of Life occurring spontaneously.
This is a misunderstanding of the process of evolution.
The process of variation is random & spontaneous.

Possibly, not too sure ESS and the Science behind it seems pretty standard now. Its even mentioned in The selfish Gene book.
