@Unseen – Yes it is. Just as well it is located near the Branch Of Awkward Wording Branch.

@jakelafort Can we metaphor even more? Don’t start with the similes though. I mean what would that be even like?
Yes, similes of/for similes is a matter for The Department of Redundancy Department.

@Reg – thank you for saying it was the East 😉
@Unseen that liqueur was a major element to the choice. Also, S is a straw yellow, very similar to the liqueur.

Reg it would be like anything else.
Similies in homilies. Metaphors in and out of doors.
Images of dirty drawers as petulant children demand smores.Poetry would reign supreme as all evil would be jettisoned on a laser beam. A chimera in every stocking as grown ups engage in playful mocking.

Shoes metaphor. River metaphor. Can we metaphor even more? I’ll keep score.
I love old sneakers and hiking shoes. Adore em. I even remember having dress shoes that had holes in em. I had to be cautious to keep feet planted lest soles of my shoes create bad impression. Sure walking in rain and through puddles was a hastle but not so much that i…[Read more]

If you walk around all day in tight fitting shoes, would you be expecting to feel a sense of relief or would you miss them after taking them off? If the former, then get new shoes and forget about the old way you used to walk. If the latter, then put them on every morning so you don’t have to feel you are losing out.

I don’t feel a void. I don’t feel life is meaningless, and I’m not a nihilist. Christians can’t make sense of that. Which may be understandable as they are required to see something from another’s point of view. What Christians worship is a void in our life, yet there’s “nothing there” in the sense of there being no void.
It’s not even the…[Read more]

I think it is easier to herd cats than to organize a meeting of atheists on a Sunday 🙂 What ya reckon? @jakelafort
I reckon you’z right Reg. Alliterative license taken.
I get a visceral reaction so at least for me it is a hard no. At same time i credit Sam Harris for recognizing the void some atheists may feel in not having that community…[Read more]

My friends in Sarasota are expecting storm surges double that of Helene….and that was a record. They have evaced already. The path of Milton is still unpredictable. Stay safe!
Hope nobody nearby hears “the voice of rage and ruin”.

First big band from that red stapler hurricane just came through here. Look like we may get the Southern eye-wall of Milton but we already had about a foot of rain.

Simon – Those things sound pretty strange to me. Everyone’s there to worship nothing? What’s the point?
Exactly the same as what happens in every other church, I guess.

@unapologetic – Re. Sunday Assembly: No thanks. I am pretty antisocial.
I went to one out of curiosity but it was more of a “I am not-religious but I am very spiritual” gathering. I asked if they could be more specific as “demons are spirits too”. They were not happy with that.
Then I noticed it. There, resting against the back wall. It was…[Read more]
