Hi! I won’t accept that as a excusable excuse.

Rich, without some context (a quote, perhaps), we have no fucking idea what you’re going on about.

And they are not half bad.

Per YouTube reviews and comments, I expected they’d be pretty good. I’ve not looked into them because I need to limit my rabbit holes. Good song, this one. I estimate it’s about 150 bpm (if it’s time signature is written in 4/4 time), bannable in Chechnya. I wonder if/how the law defines time signatures, because this song could be claimed to be written in 2/4 time, sounding exactly the same, but cutting the putative bpm in half, i.e. 75 bpm. (Which would still be unlawful, unfortunately.)

So this theocracy has a new way to persecute musical artists they don’t like. Maybe they’re showing too much skin, too.

Hurray for activism. Enco, this song is what woke is supposed to be! 🙂

See, here’s a key to The Warning’s success that almost all other bands miss: The off-stage relationship they cultivate with their fans that humanizes them. Off the stage, their numerous home videos show them to be just a bunch of normal girls who love each other and know how to entertain themselves. This video takes one of their Spanish language songs and draws on the myriad home videos they put out showing their daily life as very normal young women.

…..showing their daily life as very normal young women.

I think that is a great asset (apart from their music). They are down to Earth and I would not expect them to demand bowls of green M&M’s in their dressing room.

    @ Reg

They are so normal and humble that they are adorable. Whenever they encounter fans, barring that they are absolutely running late for their flight or show, they will stop to say hello to fans, sign autographs, accept gifts, and demonstrate their appreciation. On top of that, they make time for a meet-and-greet after their shows. I do think in order to keep things relatively sane, this is for fans who buy a ticket with this option, but it’s hard to imagine Guns n Roses or Metallica being as devoted to their fans. So unlike other bands that want to be hustled in and out of shows through secret entrances so they can get drunk, they can’t wait to mix with their fans.

Plus, for every official video they release, there are probably a dozen or so more daily life videos which the fans love to watch. It’s not just the music. It’s the girls’ personalities. They are just fun to watch. Maybe it’s part of their latina-ness, but their are all very animated and effusive.

I think it also speaks to their incredible parents and other chosen support structures, including their absolute insistence on keeping final say on everything. It’s like they were trained and encouraged this way from birth to have positive attitudes, fun, and competent decision-making.

    Unseen,

Voice of Baceprot needs to be the first performers on stage at The Kaaba Colluseum at Six Flags Over Mecca and Medina, followed by a whirlwind tour of A Whole New Disneyworld in Tehran, The Rockin’ Dome in Jerusalem, and Malmo, Sweden, oh, and all the “no-go” zones throughout Europe.

Maybe they could cover novelty and comedy tunes from Spike Jones, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Judy Tenuda, and Juli Brown be “The Gals Who Brought the ‘Hwm’ Back to Hamtramck, Michigan!”

I totally agree. Their parents are the very model of what good parenting should be.

As for artistic freedom, they will be pressured by their label, which is in business to make money, not act as an ATM. If the girls go in a direction the label know, believes, or fears will be less than profitable or disastrous, the pressure will begin. And let’s also give the label’s producers some credit for knowing a few things, too.

I wonder if the trend to highly processing the vocals and cranking up the distortion on the guitar and bass might be in response to their producer’s wishes.

I love this reactor. He has amazing software that allows him to isolate each instrument. I don’t mean just bring the instrument forward out of the background and dial down the other instruments. He can actually eliminate the other instruments.

By listening to this analysis you can get an appreciation for what an amazing drummer Pau is as well as how she and Ale work together as the rhythm section.

Skeptic wonders if a TW concert can be at least as good as the videos and recordings. The verdict: 11/10:

Stage presence coach watches TW for the first time. Picking her jaw up off the floor, “What just happened?)

I wonder too, but I’m putting my bet on the band just having fun with it. Pau’s smiling a lot, and I really love her fills in Sun. In any case, their audience mostly loves it, and the fan base keeps growing.

As for the guy who breaks songs down into parts, I avoided him after hearing his remixes of TW songs a couple months ago or so. If it’s possible for anyone to do TW nearly as good TW does, maybe it’s him, but not in what I’ve heard so far. But I appreciate you citing his breakdowns, as there’s a lot that can be learned from them. Similar software I’ve used is much less sophisticated than his.

They looked like they had a ton of fun making Qué Más Quieres (Official Video). Here are some of the credits they list that I find interesting (abridged):

    Production Credits
Dirección – Paulina Villarreal e Iban Chabes
    Producción Ejecutiva – Rudy Joffroy
Producción de Rudy Joffroy y GroovyChaos Films
    Idea original – Paulina Villarreal
    Wedding officiator Rudy Joffroy

The “plot” is involved, as one might guess from a creation from Pau. I love the product placement and super-model wink at 1:02.

There’s an involved, 30-minute analysis given by Don and son at Don-Music, if you can take all the interruptions and replays. Don’s son is pretty good at this.

Yeah, I’m mainly interested in that reactor for his technical analyses.

And for anyone who doesn’t know, Rudy Jaffroy is the band’s manager. Well, he’s a lot more than just that. He’s virtually a family member and a parental surrogate when traveling without their mom and/or dad.

This reaction is fun, shorter, and they decipher the plot much sooner.
