ParticipantTBH…my psychiatrist says it’s a good thing. I’ve known him for years and he knows it’s (for me) a process I’m going through. I went from doormat to fucking bitch and I don’t see it dissipating any time soon.

ParticipantThat is a good metaphor of a rubber band but fortunately it takes a lot of stretching before it snaps.
This is what it looks like when it snaps. I really don’t have tolerance for bullshit anymore. If I detect the SMALLEST amount of abusive tendency from anyone they better watch out. It didn’t used to be like that. Well now I tell people where to shove it without hesitation.
That includes rich white motherfuckers who make jokes about mentally ill people to sell books. Fuck them.

jakelafortParticipantNo fun being a doormat Belle.

ParticipantOk I mean to be fair they do say a lot of great things. But I feel like….they also are just….arrogant. And arrogance doesn’t sit well with me from anyone anymore….you know?
The moment I smell arrogance I call bullshit.

jakelafortParticipantI know what ya mean.
I used to enjoy it when i was underestimated as an attorney and won in court against some priestly and arrogant lawyer.
But it seems like arrogance is a natural outgrowth of excellence. Super pilots, super athletes, super doctors, super intelligent folks, seem to be cocky and arrogant. Not always. Often.

More like an under-growth of something to be compensated

ParticipantI honestly didn’t feel like anything in the Dennet video addressed my situation. Honestly I think it made me more confused. I had watched it before but now at this – whatever the fuck this is – I see it through a different lenses and almost everything he said made me either laugh or want to punch him in the face

Simon PayntonParticipantI tend to think Dennett’s a boring idiot, but Richard Dawkins was a major innovator, and Sam Harris is genuine in my opinion. I’ve always got time for him.

DavisParticipantThere’s simply no polite way to tell people they’ve dedicated their lives to an illusion.
~Dan Dennett~
Arrogance. Total arrogance. Especially considering he simultaneously says we will probably never know the origins of the universe….
So how do you politely tell someone their world view is a delusion?
