The most conservative estimate of dead Palestinians is that of the Israeli government: 17.000 (give or take). At the other end, the Gaza Ministry of health says it’s more like 62,000. They each use different methods designed, presumably to suit their PR needs. Probably, the truth is in the middle somewhere.

Your article gives examples of one couple murdered and one family experiencing a firebomb. Two murders and an act of vandalism are an average day here in Portland, OR. Actually, maybe more like a slow day.

Jake – ruby, rust, russet.  In Europe we’re surrounded by a bunch of related languages, all with the same roots.

Apparently though Finnish is a strange outlier that doesn’t bear any relation to the other European languages.  According to Wikipedia it’s Uralic rather than Indo-European in its family.  I went to Norway for 10 days once, and they seem to view the Finns as strange eccentric hard-drinking mushroom-elves.

The historian in the vid refers to Arabic language. I had no idea of the following: In Arabic, most words are built upon a triconsonantal root, meaning they are derived from a base of three consonants. These roots represent core meanings or concepts, and other words are formed by adding vowels and other consonants to the root. For example, the root “k-t-b” (ك-ت-ب) carries the meaning of “writing”, and from this root, words like “kitab” (book) and “maktab” (office) are derived.
