Fortunately the judiciary remains strong. The legislative is mostly for sale. Cabinet is sycophants central. Prez is central mental. Ruth should have stepped down during her life while a democrat was prez. Supreme court rubber stamps central mental.
I have been thinking about authoritarianism. Pretty sure it is a safe bet to assume the hard core Maga cultists are authoritarian. Oh wait or maybe it is his policies? No real foundational principles attain. It is whatever sells.
Not long ago i posted from a survey how many Americans are not feeling too bound to democracy and would lick the bootstraps of an orange fizz. Authoritarianism can underlie any river of belief. Nazi Germany is obviously the paradigm. I am pretty sure during the Weimar Republic many of the boot lickers Germans identified as some strain of liberal. But the river swept em up off their feet and at the feet of the furious fuhrer. Who said the Hun is at your throat or at your feet? Two points for a correct answer. Japanese probably fit that mold as well in that time frame. And yet the dictator river i suspect simply augments preexisting proclivities towards authoritarianism for some sifnificant portion of the population. Arabized Muslims it is same deal. But then again the structure of Islam which utterly dominates all aspects of life is of necessity authoritarian.
Anyone who is taken by Trump’s charisma is pretty fucking stupid. A few sentences is all it ought to take. Guy aint fit to be anything significant but president. And yet he is adored and a cult figure.
Ya know the fact that there has never been a movement to ATTACK THE HELL OUT OF ALL OF OUR HISTORY of destructive beliefs and replace them with sane ideas and create reasonable norms is testament to our hopelessness. I really have little to no doubt that the proper external influences would create a safer and better civilization. Not ideal. Not seeking ideal outcome. But it is utter madness the way we proceed. Ok that sucked but fuck it…back to the horses.
