I take your point, that living conditions and the lack of advanced medicine would have made life brutal, dangerous and precarious. Yet we could envy them some aspects as well. There was very little violence. They weren’t at each other’s throats. What happened when they met up with other species of human? Did they kill them and eat them?

We had cannibalism in New Guinea up until the 20th century.  But it’s not the normal practice for most societies.  Similarly, there’s very little evidence of violence before around 15-19,000 years ago.  If Steven Pinker says our ancestors were violent – he needs to specify the time period.

The absurdity of the god question.

Our insignificance in an uncaring and vast universe that’s crazily abstruse and yet the need to make it intelligible and purposive. Figuring it out or trying is in our nature but assuming we are the big cheese is infantile. There are no words to convey how Trump it is. We are not the equivalent of a subatomic particle in a single galaxy and we know natural processes caused our existence. We know we evolved and have a lot in common with the most primitive forms of life.

Yeah but there is the good place and the bad place. And we have free will. Everything else is subject to physics and all biological organisms to biological imperatives and yet we choose to be sinful or good.

Sacrifice for sins of those not born. The apple. The sandbox mythology. The designer creating a civilization so chaotic and so recurrent in its stupidity, cruel norms and degenerate cultures. A natural world inconsistent with scripture. I mean where is the basic intelligence. How much smarter are you than any other ape?

@theencogitationer – the answers to both your points are “cooperation, sharing, and risky foraging niche”.  The great apes are savage to each other, and especially the pre-human (pre- Ardipithecus ramidus, 4-6 million years ago) great apes, as we surmise from looking at the relative canine sizes of males and females.  A big difference, with big male canines, shows that the males were fighting a lot.

The other great apes live in forests, where either food is relatively plentiful, in which case they live in groups, or it’s sparse, and which case they can live alone (orang utans).

Humans were birthed on the savannah / mixed woodland / variable habitat, where they cannot survive on their own and food is relatively hard to come by and there are a lot of competitors.  In order to survive, they had to stop fighting.  So the females (according to my theory) sexually selected for males who were friendly and peaceful etc.

Cooperation is impossible without egalitarianism.  Modern hunter gatherer groups show a distinct egalitarian ethos, which is a result of their mobile foraging lifestyle.

Being at each other’s throats is incompatible with human cooperation and therefore human survival.

As to the first assertion and comparison of relative danger to democracy and Jews stupid college kids and lefty professors is incomplete. It is the so-called unholy alliance. Islamists and lefty’s. (Terminology is sometimes confusing and i may misuse terms inadvertently) That same alliance led to the overthrow of the Shah in Iran and the ascension of the Revolutionary Guard and the Ayatollah that has destabilized the middle east and threatened/attacked Israel and threatens the great Satan. Specter of Nucs looms. Sponsors a shit ton of terrorism that has killed Europeans, Americans and Israelis. Is an ongoing threat with improved missiles and attempts to reengage nucs. And of course done great damage to the ancient Empire of Persia’s successor which might have become a democracy and avoided Islamism and the consequent torture, executions and gender apartheid etc.

The 100 yr plan of the Brotherhood is incredibly successful. I don’t think they have ruined any democracies per se but they have been instrumental or part and parcel of the lefty ethos in our politics, zeitgeist and ethics. Instead of protecting Muslim victims of Islamic oppression the cops/judiciary right it off as cultural relativism. Muslims have taken over some parts of some cities and made it dangerous to pass through. Iran pays kids to deal drugs and murder people. They disrupt ordinary life in their protests & harass government officials and Jews and anyone who is not consonant with their purpose. All of that and lots more is a direct result of the lefty mythology and cult which permeates far more than the university and the moronic and impressionable students. It is not confined to USA. It is all over western civ. And of course the backlash is being felt already. Rise of the far right parties and the green light to neo nazis and their ilk. In terms of impact or danger to Jews there is no comparison. It is lefty all of the way. At least at this point it is. I could cite all kinds of shit. But trust me it is all over the globe.
