Guess they never had a chance to read God in a Pill. I’ve met people who have used LSD to try to find God in the 70s, and I know the practice goes back further. I do wonder just how far back the use of such drugs to enhance spirituality really goes. Possibly back before recorded history.

At any rate, this church service sounds better than sitting on a hard, wooden pew while half-heartedly butchering hymns.

I recall that movie “Altered States” that was adapted from Chayefsky’s 1978 novel. Seems much of that 60s-70s drugged-out enlightenment led to the 80s-90s “me” and “yuppie” generations and ultimately into right wing populist nationalism. And as the movie predicted, “altered states” is nonsense.

There is that sad chapter when the Native Americans would get jacked up and do their ghost dance and have visions of their ancestors coming back to help them win back their lands and of course they just got slaughtered.

Though the Ayatollahs are definitely faltering, their regime isn’t dead yet by any means. Recall, Mao’s Red China had a “Let A Hundred Flowers Bloom” campain to lure out the dissenters. The Gang of Four and The Cultural Revolution soon followed with “struggle sessions” and executions for those same dissenters. Iran’s dissenters should fight on both openly and covertly but not take The Kiddy Catcher’s candy.

It looks like Biden has memory-holed the last nearly 3 years. He’s basically given a blessing for another nice thing for the Intersectional/Woke/Burn Loot Murder/DIE to vandalize and destroy.

Let’s hope the Paine orgaizations tap the power in Franklin’s key to keep the monument safe.

Yeah, Unseen, you may be correct. I think intelligence guaging popular support has to inform the decision (were there a will) Even if invasion is a bad idea we could offer succor to dissidents. We could promise retribution against those who torture and execute. If i recall in the uprising in Iran in 1979 the U S opposed democracy.

Nevertheless my point stands. As always in realpolitik it is not concern for individuals or peoples it is the perception of each countrie’s best interest. Those African genocides are a perfect example of how callous and uncaring nations are. We could have militarily intervened and rapidly ended the slaughters. We don’t care. And as i’ve pointed out already there was no push back against Obama when he said we would go in if there were popular support and participation from our allies.
