To illustrate how little these terms mean, you can be Woke with a gentle alarm and a cup of coffee or Woke by a gunshot. You can be Progressive going to a new home or Progressive going over a cliff. You can be Conservative of what was copacetic in the past or you can be Conservative of the worst of it.

I knew of a school in the Washington DC area. Many of the Black kids used to come in with their hoods up. The teachers, including the Black ones, said it was disrespectful. The school authority (whoever they were) decided that because it was mainly Black kids doing it, to prevent them would be racist.

You can just imagine what certain other hooded orders said about that.

I am not sure how great a departure it is chatting with lefties (progressives, wokes or whatever ya call em!) compared to cultists or fundamentalists in regards to their “scripture.” Literally the most asinine take that this lady had committed heinous sexual harassment was not to be questioned. When i countered the ridiculous contention there was nothing substantive. Laughter emojis was the response. It is automatically sexual harassment to send suggestive pics to someone even when they are alrady flirting. And it is the same shit with the slander/blood libels against Israel. They won’t even consider possibility that it is not genocide or apartheid or any of the other lies.

It occurred to me how the catchy line about science flying ya to the moon and religion flying ya into buildings might end up being deceiving. Algorithms might just end up a causative agent in our demise or dystopia.

The Wokester people accusing the woman of sexual harassment of the man are presuming a lot not found in evidence about the intentions of both. Blackmail also is a very serious criminal charge and both this and the particular pay dispute would require more facts to evaluate.

If none these people are legal clients, I’d give the whole thing wide berth and not get any slime on you. Again, people motivated by “higher” causes can be dangerous.

Religion and politics are both algorithms in that they give instructions to execute under certain conditions, so both the flying slogan and your grounded thoughts are quite right.

Crowds dissolve responsibility. Alone, a person may hesitate but in a horde they become like the Walking Dead. They can feel carried by history, destiny, the movement, the nation, the market, the platform, the faith, the “will of the people.” That is intoxicating. It turns ordinary people into instruments of something they would never fully endorse in a quiet room.

The algorithms amplify this because they manufacture the sensation of being in a crowd when they are actually in an empty space. A social media feed can make them feel surrounded by agreement, besieged by enemies, and late to an emergency when they are actually sitting alone with a phone.

Individual humans may be rational beings, but in a crowd they become apparatchik animals. Reason is one of our greatest assets, but it is not automatically in charge.

Algorithms amplify this because they manufacture the sensation of being in a crowd? Makes sense. And it seems to increase the intransigence of the tribal thinking. When so many refuse to even engage with a contrary position or argument that is religious behavior hopped up by algorithms. Those folks are not gonna entertain heresy as a legitimate expression of thought.

Ok so out of left field if i had to make an over/under by recent Harvard Grads on at least passing familiarity with Treaty of Versailles (most recent one) 7. Little Big Horn 6. Fort Laramie 2. Is that too generous?

First, the “Memorandum Of Understanding” (MOU) isn’t even on the same level as a Treaty, which Constitutionally requires Congressional approval. The MOU is basically Trump drafting a wish list for the IRGC and calling it a victory.

Second, if this MOU is like The Treaty of Versailles, then evidently, the Allies paid all to the Central Powers and the Kaiser and the Ottomans won.

The MOU is the plaintive neighing of a cattle off to a Halal slaughter, as Bierce would put it.

I think among Israelis there is probably a strong majority who see it that way. Being dependent on the Americans is a mistake. Political winds change as in democrats are in office and the lefty demonization of Israel leaves Israel high and dry. And i don’t think it will make much difference in terms of the next political faction in Israel although far right is going to be most aligned but all Israelis understand the project to destroy them.

For such a tiny nation the constant innovation is really cool. I think it starts with Jewish culture in its tolerance of varied opinions and its love of polemics and solving problems. Oh and its love of learning and education.

I have read a bunch of stuff recently themed this way recently. Some company says it expects to solve the threat of Hezbollah drones within a month. Hopefully that won’t hurt Ukranians. A bunch of stuff they are working on and the exigency of Iran and its bitches will expedite the unfolding of new and more lethal and better defense…

Our predecessors were smarter than most of us today about what can create fire.

Without human assistance, fire can come from lightning strikes, volcanic lava, and the right rocks and crystals striking just perfectly from an avalanche. Even a drop of water that refracts visible sunlight into a rainbow can also focus sunlight to a point on dry tinder and start a blaze.

Today, there’s people who don’t know a tossed cigarette can start a fire in a petrol-based plastic disposal. Or a vape starter or a shorted Lithium battery can set a fire in a homeless encampment.

And there are U.S. Senators who think Jewish Space Lasers can set wildfires in L.A.

Yep, there is a trade-off in intellect over the ages.
