– this is a really interesting article about imitation between chimps and humans, and how they equally like to imitate each other. I’ve just been reading about imitation. It seems that it’s done for both learning and affiliative purposes, so when humans over-imitate their learning, it’s for affiliative reasons. On the other hand, chimps are less cooperative so they don’t over-imitate like we do – they don’t belong to cultural groups and have cultural identities to uphold where everyone does the same things as part of being a group member.
