@davis – that’s an interesting perspective I hadn’t considered. It makes sense. The Abrahamic religions include a large body of specific social norms, largely aimed at promoting cooperation, and monogamous pair-bonding is one of the cornerstones of human cooperation.
Would I find this information in the Desmond Morris books you mentioned?
