This is a good example of what does NOT count as “proof.”
Some of you might be old enough to remember a time when there were only a handful of television stations, and they actually signed off for the night. There would be a video of the American flag with the Star Spangled Banner playing, and then nothing but static.
But before that, there…[Read more]

Sunday School 8 years, 7 months agoThat’s the thing about Atheism; that it offers virtually nothing.
There is no guiding rule book, because there are no rules or things to believe. It’s just people not believing in gods, and nothing more.
There is no church-type thing, although that might be neat for some. It’s hard to get people together based on something they don’t believe, or…[Read more]

I have a personal story that was re-told on the radio 22 years ago by a few radio show hosts my ex-wife called. These hosts called our personal story a “miracle of god.” I’m going to share the story, cover why I do not see it as a miracle at all, and what kind of proof that I would need that a god exists.
THE MIRACLE BABY
I won’t get into the…[Read more] -

Sunday School 8 years, 7 months agoSo how would you say that your belief that Vishnu is not real impacts your life? And how much time would you say that you dedicate to this belief?
Or would you say that you simply don’t believe in Vishnu, and that it hardly ever crossed your mind?
There is a difference.

For me, becoming an atheist was a matter of putting away childish things and learning to become an adult. When I stop and think about things like Easter, as an adult, I still cannot see the correlation between a huge, anthropomorphic bunny with colored boiled eggs, and the story of a man who is supposedly the son of god, who had a really horrific three-day weekend for my sins, which had not yet happened.
Outside of the name, Christmas has little…[Read more]

What’s wrong with having faith in physical laws and logic is that faith is not required.
Why muddy the waters by introducing faith or belief into these areas?

The word “believe” is more destructive than one might think. Not looking more deeply into it will produce deadly consequences.
I was reminded of how destructive it can be last night, watching a video of Bill Maher, where he’s talking about Conservatives who “do not believe in climate change.”
When he says it that way, it puts things like climate…[Read more]

For most of my life, I was told to keep my mouth shut about what I am, and what I believe or do not believe. Most of the time, it was under threat of bodily harm. Other times, the harm was real. I was left-handed, but was told that I was “a tool of the…[Read more] -

Now, you’ve never even HEARD of Gezcabr before. You don’t know what this might be, so you ask me to explain it. I then proceed to tell you a story that actually requires lots of “teaching” as a child in order to believe. In other words, it’s not something that just anyone is capable of believing.
