Humanism 6 years agoSimon…post-modern neo-marxists don’t exists. There is not such thing. I don’t know how you can be criticizing people who logically could not exist even if they wanted to. You are critiquing a fantasy. It’s not even a strawman…it’s some ghostly figures. It would be like complaining about pork eating vegans. Did you not read the actual cartoon?…[Read more]

Humanism 6 years agoLol. But the “post-modern neo-marxists” don’t do themselves any favours by acting crazy. Some of their ideas, like Western society being institutionally racist, and intersectionality, are just starting to filter through to me, after having been put off the whole thing for so long. On the other hand, I can’t help thinking that identity po…[Read more]

Humanism 6 years agoThis is not limited to philosophy but it is extremely common in this field:

How many people who talk with confidence about topics they’ve never read a book on (or at the very least a detailed summary)…but at best skimmed the intro of the wikipedia page or saw a short youtube video about it.

Humanism 6 years, 2 months agoYes, we have witnessed these scenarios play out time and time again. As the dictator tRump has stated” I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody”.

Humanism 6 years, 2 months agoThe first part on dictatorships reminded me of the Iraqi Purges in 1979 by Saddam Hussein when he removed 66 “keys” in one afternoon.
So good so far.

Humanism 6 years, 2 months agoThis video sums up what many minds including Machiaveli, Aristotle (sort of) and Lao Tzu have said less effectively (or in a way less relevant to those who have grown up in liberal democracies). Watch this video, think about it before responding, consider watching it again a few days later. I have issues with a couple of its claims but its about…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 5 months agoI would do any of the above 3 and probably even more extreme than that. But to be able to do everything I want to do would require me to move out of the US. As soon as I can I’m gone. BYE FELICIA!!!

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 5 months agoI prefer the alien scenario. I honestly think humanity has absolutely no hope until we either fix our genetic code or some aliens do it for us (they are far less likely to screw up when they attempt to do so).

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 5 months agoEhhhhh. We can avoid the Earth setting on fire if we act now. Humans are too ridiculously selfish to bother. And the American government and half of Americans have always been ridiculous deniers of climate change. No…people won’t make those sacrafices and most importantly businesses wont make enough concessions (thats the serious problem) and…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 5 months agoI say fuck all that. Just have a lotto, the winners don’t get sterilized. Say 1% get to have a precious baby. Problem solved. Now we have massive resources for the education and betterment of those children. Why does the right to pollute the world with offspring trump all else?
lol, otherwise I agree, option 2. We are almost there already living…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 5 months agoWe all know we are heading to climate doom and that there is no way countries (especially the US) will do whats necessary to stop it. It’s likely to be very very very bad even with notable changes (which won’t happen until there are problems that really disrupt people’s lives right in their faces). So I thought I’d ask everyone a set of questions.…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoI was reading how at least 4 in 10 of young black men who die are murdered. It is the leading cause of death. It is taken to be normal. Thousands of times a day, radio station play songs that glorify murder. The musical and commercialized production of material that incites violence marches on. Why is this allowed? Is this covered under our r…[Read more]

To Do or not To Do 6 years, 8 months agoI believe a business has the right to keep things businesslike.
Useless post. Is a gay flag over the doorway to the HR department businesslike? How about a daily bible verse on several office whiteboards. How about when all of your bosses discuss events at the same church or how about the Hispanic support network that has meetings…
