    Aliens arrive.

Greater than half of the alien civilization is operating on the basis of faith in their world view. Recent pandemic has seen science produce vaccines and yet a substantial portion of the aliens won’t take the vaccine.

    Turn the ship around. Next…

    Robert,

Enco, even considering the amount of deaths attributed to protests concerning the murder of G. Floyd in the wake of  this virus would be typical of a right wing radio talk show host, LOL. Come on man, how about a sense of scale.

A spreader event is a spreader event, whether the spreader is at a MAGA rally or at CHAZ/CHOP in Portland.  The virus dies not distinguish on ideological lines.  Nor does it distinguish on the basis of class or national borders when it spreads to hundreds in homeless encampments tolerated in cities all over or spread to  thousands and millions who cross the border unaccounted for and without vaccines for smallpox or polio, let alone flu or COVID-19.

You know how the the MAGA/Qanon morons are so clueless about large numbers. For months on end this virus was the equal of twenty loaded airliners going down per day. But it is a hoax they believe, some as they even lie dying.

I noticed they all backed the Hell up when I got a bit of dust in my throat.  Deep down, they don’t believe in their own bullshit.

Funny how a few of my “fox news addicted” former coworkers have somehow become instant socialists, allowing the state to absorb their their extended hospital bills, LOL. Can’t wait to yank their chains a bit.

By all means do so.  I haven’t spent my stimulus check yet and the IRS has sent me a letter asking to call them for another check.

When I call them, I’m letting them know I neither want nor need the stimulus money and I’ll ask them how to send back what they put on my tax refund card too.

I’m not participating in the tax-and-inflate-and-spend spiral of death that has gripped this nation and I want to tell the young of the future that I had no hand in their debt-slavery.  I’m even framing the uncashed check as proof and with a note saying: “Kids, this is what dumb adults thought was prosperity!”

In an everchanging world where I have one shot at happiness, I much prefer pragmatism. Ideologies are for the religious types…the universe isn’t watching anything or anyone and simplified ideologies are often incorrect anyways.

Thinking that cashing your check will do harm is a real stretch. As if you understand the mechanics of that check as it relates to government debt and citizen’s surplus/treasury bills, interest rates, inflation, Wall street, main street, tax evasion, and the overall economy. If you do my next question would be so why are you not a billionaire and is it necessary to have 11 Nimitz-class aircraft carriers?

    Robert,

In an everchanging world where I have one shot at happiness, I much prefer pragmatism. Ideologies are for the religious types…the universe isn’t watching anything or anyone and simplified ideologies are often incorrect anyways.

Everyone I’ve encounteed nowadays who claims to be “non-ideological” always sounds like they’re reading from the same talking points on the same template.  I say, like Madge, they are all “soaking in it” and just don’t know it:

My Nephew tells me “Ideology killz, man,” yet he went from heing a Bernie Bro to a Trump Trainer in 2020, jumping from one pool of crazy to another.  Sometimes “non-ideological” means not having any idea.

Anyhow, as many an Atheist has pointed out, people trying to do right should do the right thing no matter who (or Who, even if there was one) is watching.  And sometimes, in dangerous times, you do the right thing and hope no one is watching.

Thinking that cashing your check will do harm is a real stretch. As if you understand the mechanics of that check as it relates to government debt and citizen’s surplus/treasury bills, interest rates, inflation, Wall street, main street, tax evasion, and the overall economy.

I know my check is part of policy that as we speak has already inflated prices across multiple sectors, from meat and poulrty to fuel to lumber and housing.

I know this policy has made untold millions think that they can just get paid to exist and has caused labor shortages so bad, there are 42,000 fewer trucks hauling merchandise on the road, there are chronic, store wrapping lines in retail stores, and customer service has plummetted.

I know these “stimulus checks” have placed this nation in debt to the tune of Trillions every time they are issued.  I know that for the longest, Every President has tried to one up the previous President on how much they can spend money they don’t have, until now we have a President who wants to spend Trillions every time he changes his Depends.

Above all, I know this can’t last.  Either we stop it, or eventually, we are at one with Nineveh, Tyre, and Rome.

Maybe me turning down “stimulus” money is starfish-tossing, but at least I can walk the beach in more comfort for my own path.

If you do my next question would be so why are you not a billionaire and is it necessary to have 11 Nimitz-class aircraft carriers?

You don’t have to be a Billionaire or even a Millionaire to refuse Gummint Cheeze.  I don’t make 1/10000th of what Bezos, Branson, or Musk make and I still don’t want or need it.  Perhaps they could do likewise as well.

I can’t answer the question on how many Nimitz Carriers we need, but I know we would have a leaner, meaner, more well-utilized Military if we kept it to defending our borders and shores and stopped using it as a social Petri dish, as a jobs program, as an International “Meals-On-Wheels,”  or as a “nation-building” scheme.  We certainly shouldn’t be helping defend bankrollers of terrorism against us such as Saudi Arabia and The Gulf States of the Arabian Peninsula.

Sometimes “non-ideological” means not having any idea.

I think it usually means, “I’m normal, and everyone else is ideological.”

    Enco you seem conflicted.

You act against your own interest in declining to use your stimulus check. Yet you trumpet free market capitalism.

You don’t want the stimulus check cuz you think it will cause inflation and lead to labor shortages and cause citizens to think they can be idle.

But free market capitalism involves exploitation every which way but loose. Sure there are a few enlightened entrepreneurs and perhaps corps where social causes are part of the game plan. But for the most part it is a simple cost benefit analysis. If it is to their benefit and they can get away with it they will fuck the environment, kill people, charge fees for life saving items that many cannot afford. Damn sure they will not lick a gift horse in the mouth and abjure some windfall. Enormous profitable corps sometimes pay no taxes.

So why do you want to be a social justice paradigm when you’re consistently lionizing free market capitalism?

Florida’s moron governor is a perfect example of an ideologist. Doesn’t matter to him how many get sick and die. He is the mayor in ‘Jaws’; “Those beaches will remain open”. These people go to their graves being DEAD wrong. Can’t recognize when things change and need as a minimum a reaction..forget about being proactive. Ironic how the unvaccinated right wingers are so often the ones who are saying ” I can’t breathe” now.

It’s not a good idea to get a realistic sense of danger from entirely fictitious movies.

More people probably die during the “Bike Weeks” from bike wrecks, overdoses, and bar-room violence than from the entire season of shark attacks, yet because of that series of movies, people can’t even look at the blue deep of a swimming pool without thinking of sharks.  Jimmy Buffett didn’t help with his margarita-fueled fever dreams of “sharks that can swim on the land”

Now that fear has morphed into sharks with laser beams on their heads (Sharknado) and predecessors to sharks that no longer exist (The Meg.)

Can’t recognize when things change and need as a minimum a reaction..forget about being proactive. Ironic how the unvaccinated right wingers are so often the ones who are saying ” I can’t breathe” now.

I thinking of making a mask that says: “If you can see this, you’re breathing!  Now shaddap and get vaxxed!”

Enco, Isn’t it just like a ideolog to mistake an artistic metaphor that refers to the film jaws as a ” dogma “, LOL.

    Robert,

(Sidebar: I said “Bike Weeks” as a plural deliberately because they are one of the few places in the U.S. where segregation somehow legally exists.  Let Mark Potok of Southern Poverty Law Center and Antifa confront this bunch.  They’ll be soiling their three-piece suits and Ninja pajamas just looking at them!)

The thing is people take the metaphor as real when looking at risks and dangers.

A more realistic way of dealing with sharks is to announce: “We’ve sighted sharks in the area.  If you let your children swim there, you’re homicidally negligent and we’ll bust you.  As for consenting adult big-pants people…Meh!  Swim at your own risk and have fun hunting them.”

Likewise, we know that the vaccine works against the virus and reduces the severity even with variants.  So, quarantine only the infected and at-risk, encourage vaccination for those who can get it and haven’t, and quit ruinning life for those who are vaccinated.

There is no error, oddity or even coincidence in the stark realization that DOGMA spelled backwards is AMGOD.

Ideologues value dogma in the same way theists aspire to say with a clean heart I AMGOD-closer to thee my lord. An ideologue will be offended when her precious precepts and doggy doo doo notions are upended. Those dog and whistles are inerrant just as the good book is. Theists will feel threatened and prepared to do harm to the naysayers of theistic manifestations.

I’m not sure where you learned economics or how you practice economics, but getting paid by government taxes to just exist is not Free-Market Capitalism.

And giving up “stimulus” money is not against my interest because inflation, shortages, and government debt that I, you, and every U.S. Citizen will be on the hook for, both now and for future generations, is not in my interests nor anyone else’s.

So why do you want to be a social justice paradigm when you’re consistently lionizing free market capitalism?

Not “Social Justice.”  Simple Justice.  The only adjective that can be put in front of Justice without contradiction.

And yet you are wanting to wage a war on “misinformation,” not particular errors, but “misinformation” itself.  As if you are Omniscient and incapable of “misinformation,” as if you are Omnipotent enough to stop a human condition to which we are all succeptible as long as we are not Omniscient.

I’m sure this “War On ‘Misinformation'” will work out just as well as a War on the numbers in a computer that you think spreads this “misinformation” (Algorhythms.)

I’m sure also that the “War On ‘Misinformation'” will work out as well as your War on a certain human emotion (Hate,)

Or the War on another human emotion and a tactic (Terror,)

Or the War on the human desire to chemically modify consciousness (Drugs,)

Or the War on differences between economic results by people doing what they do to get what they got (Poverty.)

Don’t you see a pattern of doing the same thing and expecting different results here?  Don’t you know what Einstein called that?

(Man, if I could put this all to music, it might sound like “Prayer in C”.)
