_Robert_ParticipantRobert, Here’s the press release you forgot to link: Students Against Antisemitism and Kasowitz Benson Torres Announce Settlement of their Lawsuit Against Harvard https://www.kasowitz.com/media/client-news/students-against-antisemitism-and-kasowitz-benson-torres-announce-settlement-of-their-lawsuit-against-harvard/
As part of this settlement with Students Against Antisemitism, which includes monetary terms, Harvard has not admitted to any wrongdoing or liability. Plaintiff Alexander (Shabbos) Kestenbaum declined to join this settlement and continues to pursue his claims against Harvard, represented by new counsel.
Harvard still doen’t concede it did anything wrong, and, of course, still got dragged before Congress, And none of this is to mention Columbia and every other Ivy League “Gentlemen’s Agreement” University.
Trump is jumping on this, because he has all those evangelicals to please. He’s turning the Iranian sponsored malfeasance at Harvard into another anti-woke shit-show instead of dealing with Iran like he promised. Hey, we all know anti-woke nonsense is way more important than having a democracy, a free market economy, an educated public or rule of law. I would love to see Trump go after all those bastions of right-wing politics. Otherwise known as churches. Tax those assholes already. And they don’t contribute to knowledge at all. In fact, they are brain drains.
Trump and Evangelicals aren’t the ones who were threatened by campus thugs and there is still time to re-sanction the mullahs as long as they don’t build nukes. Too bad Obama and Biden gave them a head start. And yes, get rid of all 501 c(3)s and maybe everyone will get mad enough to get rid of the income tax entirely.
The no admission of liability clause is standard language in settlement agreements, duh. Obviously, under the terms, Harvard knows it let the Islamists go too far and has taken much action.
However, unlike MAGA types, I applaud Harvard for telling Trump to fuck off on the DEI demands. I don’t think Harvard should be just for the rich white kids like it was for decades.

jakelafortParticipantHarvard has a long history of discrimination against Jews. This lefty iteration of secular Jew hatred as an academic subject is such a joke.
I want to see the money trail from Qutar to Harvard. Who has been paid off? Anti Jew. Anti western. Anti intellectual. Smoothing the pathway for Islamism to penetrate USA and being partly responsible for the reaction against the left and election of Trump. Fight fiercely Harvard.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorPermit me Jake the indulgence of extending my most effulgent approbation for your recent prolix perambulations through the luxuriant lexicon of our beloved English tongue. Your sesquipedalian predilections, far from being an impediment to intelligibility, represent a salubrious balm upon the oft-diminished art of articulate articulation.
Indeed, your perspicacious penchant for resurrecting archaic idioms, lexical curios, and those splendidly antediluvian circumlocutions is, to my mind, nothing short of encomium-worthy. While others may succumb to the jejune minimalism of monosyllabic grunts and emoji hieroglyphs, you stride unabashedly through a forest of etymological exuberance, undeterred by the slings and arrows of brevity fetishists.
Some may regard such verbal ornateness as obfuscatory or grandiloquent — I say nay! Your eloquence is no mere logorrhea; it is an opulent tapestry woven from the silken threads of linguistic erudition, embroidered with polysyllabic panache. Please continue with your exuberant etymological excesses as I too am a fellow enthusiast of the euphoniously esoteric, especially when the lacunae demand it.

As did the entire country behave antisemitic, pretty much. I agree Harvard is guilty as charged, however I also see this as a foot-in-the-door excuse for Trump and MAGA to kill education, as all dictators do. The attack on actual experts, data, science, books, the dept of education is in full swing.
You really think MAGA cares about Jews, do you? Jews in support of Trump are just the next faces that will get eaten by leopards. After all, it’s Soros and company, you know, the Jewish socialist liberal financial elites who are the real threat. Sure, unlike true conservatives, Trump mingled with the likes of powerful Jews (even Jeffrey Epstein) while working his way into fame and power. But he will not protect them as the Christian Nationals rise.
Right now, christian nationalism is the #1 immediate threat to our nation and democracy on this planet. Not Islamists, not trans athletes, not antisemitic Harvard, not China, not Ukranian Nazis, not even climate change. Anyone fighting this shit, I am gonna root for them. When the threat is over, then back to the regularly scheduled program. Nuff Said.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorHere is one of the reasons that Jews were discriminated against at Harvard and many elite American institutions in the early 20th century.
Jewish enrollment at elite colleges in the U.S. began to rise significantly due to merit-based admissions (which emphasized academic achievement). By the 1925, Jewish students made up more than 25% of the student body at institutions like Harvard. At the time they comprised only about 4% of the population. This was viewed with alarm by some university leaders who feared that an increased Jewish presence would change the character or reputation of these institutions — particularly among the Protestant elite (WASP’s) who had long dominated them.
To counteract this Harvard shifted from purely academic admissions to holistic admissions. “Your Religion” got a tick box on the application form. Jewish enrollment then dropped to about 15% by the early 1930’s.
This system of holistic admissions was adopted by many other Ivy League schools and continues in some form today — though now theoretically race- and religion-neutral. While Harvard has made considerable strides toward inclusion and diversity, this episode remains a sobering reminder of how easily meritocratic systems can be reshaped by social bias. It also highlights the origins of many current debates around affirmative action, legacy admissions, and holistic evaluation — which, ironically, originated partly as a tool for discrimination.

Yes, Christian Nationalism is the greatest danger to all civic institutions that are the supporting framework of a democracy. It’s death by a thousand cuts. Exactly as Project 2025 maps out.

jakelafortParticipantReg, you’ve confused me with Enco. He hit us with a cromulent left hook. Was happy to learn a new word. Jejune is a word that i have/had a mental block. Have come across it too many times to have an excuse to need a dictionary or now internet. Never ever hear anybody use word but it is in so many books.
April 29, 2025 at 3:54 pm #57216
jakelafortParticipantRobert, good and fair take.
However, based on the pervasiveness of the lefty religion of secular Jew hate and how thoroughly indoctrinated so many who are or will be so prominent in the US it is a real threat. Don’t say nutting halal. It is insanely frustrating to see how stupid people are. Oh shut up Bonhoeffer! You should have renounced your religious bullshit.

jakelafortParticipantGrowing up my family befriended a Norwegian family. The rats moved back to Norway. Anyways i remember the father who was an engineer telling us how Jews who numbered so few in Norway dominated the admissions in engineering school and yet no apparent discrimination or racism was apparent. I have a feeling that is no longer the case since Norway is so far left.
And it should be pointed out that there are or were recent allegations against Harvard policy in admitting Asians. Can’t let too many of THOSE people ascend or else we will be earing sushi and egg foo young until the cows and livestock are no longer slaughtered. I heard Singapore is growing chicken nuggets in the lab and is on the menu at restaurants. Ok enough rambling trumpbrain…

TheEncogitationerParticipantUnseen,
Umm, you know, I have a far larger vocabulary than the average American, yet I had to run to the dictionary.
A little advice: if you want to be a smart communicator and not just a narcissistic egghead show off, use the common vocabulary.
The dictionary gives several synonyms: fine, acceptable or normal; excellent, realistic, legitimate or authentic. Please look at those and explain what “cromulent” expresses that isn’t captured by any one of those.
Come back down to Earth.
Well, I had to learn the word myself, so it is in a way a humble brag to use it. The other synonyms are super as well.

TheEncogitationerParticipantJake,
Funny, before I looked it up, I thought jejune was when SeSummer began.

If I were using a hard copy dictionary, you would have me using the pages as a fan looking half of those up. You could be a Scrabble King easily!

TheEncogitationerParticipantReg, Robert, and Jake,
If we want Americans thinking critically and learning again, merit and ability should be the only criteria for admissions or employment in institutions of learning. Conditions of birth such as “race”, “ethnicity”, sex, and national origin should not be a consideration.
“Holistic” admissions and hiring are as bogus and ineffectual as “Holistic” medicine and for the same reasons.

No danger of that. Wasabi Steak and Mongolian Beef are always in abundance in Japanese and Chinese restaurants respectively. And every Chinese buffet I’ve seen has spare ribs and American-style country cuisine. Asians are no threat to American appetites.
I heard Singapore is growing chicken nuggets in the lab and is on the menu at restaurants. Ok enough rambling trumpbrain…
No lab-grown chewing gum in Singapore, though. However, I’m sure Singaporeans love Wrigley’s and Bubble Yum when in the States and they aren’t bringing Singapore’s Prohibitionism here, so again, no threat to American tastes.

jakelafortParticipantJews love Chinese restaurants. A stereotype with some backbone. I will say this. There are a great many bad Chinese restaurants. There is one near me called Discount Chinese Food. The name does not mislead. When they are good though wowzers. Incredible cuisine. Japanese seldom have bad restaurants and when they are Nobu no fooling they’re incredible.
Jews and Asians seem to make great citizens wherever they go. Ambitious and driven. For psycho killers Jews have Son of Sam. Only one i know. And Asians have nobody that comes to mind. Terrorists? Save that for the Muslims who trade their lives for eternal sex with virgins and have a religious duty to make us convert and turn the world into a living hell.
