@ Enco  – If I were using a hard copy dictionary…..I did and my parents made me eat it!  We used to get a new or uncommon word to learn every few days. I am addicted to cryptic crosswords and have done at least one but usually 2 or 3 every week since I was 18. I average about 35 books a year. So I am very good at sophisticated blasphemy 🙂

Age 8 i bet a quarter against Tommy Doucette’s soft dictionary in a best of ten from the foul line. Used the heck out of that dictionary. Started reading from letter A.

So now there are two words in last two days that are courtesy of AZ added to the list of word licker linguistics. Mondegreen and cromulent. To remember cromulent just think of Oliver Cromwell. Cromulent use crapulous. Each has its nexus.

Well lets see. Max Baer. Not sure of spelling. Hank Greenberg. And the biggest is Sandy Koufax.

Ya want a shorter list? Indian sports legends. I can’t think of any in USA. Maybe cricket or soccer. But wow there are a great many Indians and i don’t think sports is there thing.

The lists of bad guys is both bigger and smaller than we think.

Jews do have the listed gangsters plus the Irgun and Stern Gangs and Kahane Chai.

Asians do have the listed gangsters plus the Virginia Tech Shooter, the Aum Cult terrorists who attacked Tokyo, and Chang-Kai Shek, Mao-Tse Tung, and Pol Pot, plus followers.

But we can never forget that the lists of bad guys are always smaller than the bigger population. Even a million Chinese gangsters is a tiny number against the number of Chinese in the mainland and the world diaspora.

And all are a product of their own thoughts or non-thoughts, not their genes.

Son of Sam in particular was a follower of canine “revelations” probably derived from Son of Sam eating moldy dog chow and later Son of Sam became an evangelist from his prison cell.

And, of course, this applies to the Muslim hangers-on of our species too as well as us.
