The SCOTUS case that’s not getting enough attention.
US CDC plans study into vaccines and autism. I am sure DOGE will stop this waste of taxpayers’ money! RFK says most vaccine advisers have conflicts of interest. A report shows they don’t.
The fight over school prayer and religious displays isn’t just a policy debate – it’s a test of the boundaries between faith and government.
Don’t call my intellectual dislike of your religion a form of bigotry. I find YOUR religion to be a leading example of bigotry. I also find the reasons given for believing in other versions of god to be rather stupid at times. No wonder I find Catholics intellectually immature when I debate their god. Now give Jesus a bottle of that spring water so he can wash his hair.

World of Woo: The dangers of digital media.
The dangers of any media without thinking. And why do the words of Rumi make a damn? Things can be true witout being “Necessary” or “Kind.”. And hey, Yassir Arafat was a Sufi too.

March 17, 2025 at 4:02 am #56732Thanks Reg for the How Minds Change/McRaney video.
Would love to see the technique work against the hard core brain dead far right Trump cultists, orthodox anythings, lefty brain dead genocide, apartheid, colonialists. It is encouraging to think there is way to get through to such persons. From what little i heard sounds somewhat similar to a book i read in law school class on negotiations known as Getting to Yes by Fisher and Ury. His book is on my list.
March 17, 2025 at 4:04 am #56733Reg,
That Neil Degrasse Tyson video was fantastic, and the exact antipode and anticote to the goody-grinning nonsense of Francis Collins:
Richard Dawkins challenges Francis Collins on miracles
With a view of science like Francis Collins’, I shudder to think that this man was head of the National Institutes of Health. I wonder if he did any actual work on the Human Genme Project and can even be believed about COVID-19.
And notice the video had no disclaimer note at the bottom countering his most obvious disinformation about the existence and the miracles of Jesus. That more than anything shows how shallow and pretentious the moral panic is about Misinformation/Disinformation/Malinformation.

“Those people aren’t attacking Tesla dealerships. They are tourists showing love. I learned that on January 6th 2021” – FaceBook meme.
The memes should read: “We were for him before we were against him”. Or perhaps: “We have to burn them before we find out what’s in them”.
Alysa Milano actually thought she was doing a good thing ditching her Muskmobile for a Volkswagon. She is Charmed with pig-ignorance of history and Elon is Charmed by the accidental good publicity:
Alyssa Milano Ripped for Trading Tesla for Volkswagen: ‘Founded by Nazis’

I would recommend David McRaney’s book too. I have used his ‘technique’ in debates over the last year with some positive results. It helped to fine tune some of my own approaches.

March 18, 2025 at 2:43 pm #56742Reg,
@Enco – having driven both the Model Y and the ID4, I am happy to keep my old BMW V8. (The E39, if that does it for you!)
V8s made by free people are always the smoothest rides.
Alas, BMW didn’t make any during the war, though. Back then, their specialty as stoolies for the Reich was war planes for the Luftwaffe made by slave labor. But *Shhh!* Don’t mention that at Fawlty Towers!
All the more pressing that free people need to AI automate as much as we can. Good products shouldn’t come with suffering and gnawing second thoughts.
March 19, 2025 at 11:32 am #56743It’s just sweet when people vote with their wallets. Trump has been trash-talking electric cars for years, so this Musk/Trump “partnership” is bullshit from the beginning. It will be even more fun as these aluminum framed/steel skinned “bulletproof”, cyber-“trucks” begin to fatigue. Well, not really bullet proof either. I inherited a few WW2 antique rifles that would go right through, no doubt.
I looked at a few Tesla products years ago. They seemed just OK. Mediocre fit and finish for the $$$. I have been a Honda guy for decades. My Honda just runs and runs (and then runs more).
The environmental benefits of electric cars are favorable even after mining and processing the materials for EV batteries, such as lithium and cobalt, the impacts are generally considered to be less than with the extraction and refining of fossil fuels. This assumes that the power companies burn less and less fossil fuels themselves. Trump is not a fan of those ugly wind generators when you can see them from the third tee.So maybe my next car, but it will not be a Tesla. Plenty of options.
