September 29, 2024 at 10:12 am #54828Have a great week!
Truth does not demand belief. Scientists do not join hands every Sunday, singing, “Yes, gravity is real! I will have faith! I will be strong! I believe in my heart that what goes up, up, up must come down. Amen!” If they did, we would think they were pretty insecure about it.

September 30, 2024 at 4:22 pm #54837Happy Birthday President Jimmy Carter. You are a great example of what a good Christian should be. I know you look forward each week to Sunday School too.

I doubt it is one of those MAGA churches that should have every incoming penny taxed.
October 2, 2024 at 8:04 pm #54848The Atlantic unfairly disses Dawkins.
This article disses the author of the Atlantic piece, Ross Andersen, thus:
It appears that Mr. Andersen is not just journalistically ham-handed, but also incurious.
Ouch! Is that true? Maybe Mr Andersen believes that indigenous creation myths are as valid as science.
I think indigenous myths can be evidence of some long-remembered and half-forgotten story about the distant past. Apparently there is a widespread association of women with snakes, in ancient cultures. A possible reason for this is that women formed “picket lines” of solidarity which dictated terms to the men (to prove themselves as good providers) if they wanted to get married. Some African tribes do this.
There is Medusa, the snake-haired lady in Greek myth, and the Devil in the Garden of Eden tempting Eve in the shape of a snake.

October 3, 2024 at 10:20 pm #54850There are a number of recent articles indicating that many university students including ivy league have never read a book cover to cover. So they’re bitching to profs about reading assignments.
I grew up from age 6 reading books cover to cover. It never stopped until i got older and chose law as a career. I went to a shit college but i have no memory of running across a student who had never completed a book. They were assigned in high school so even kids who did not read on own initiative were not so insanely deficient in their education. If its true that reading a book is a bridge too far for ivy league students then we have a nation filled with idiots. Oh wait…
And if it is true that reading is a sine qua non of critical thinking that might explain the inability of so many to reason even a little in the protests. It also might explain how the Muslims on FB reason like glorified monkeys. Stay in an echo chamber and never expand your horizons and you will be a glorified monkey. EWwww AAAaaahhhhh AAAAAaaaaaahhhh
Even Ivy League students are struggling to read whole novels

It may be about attention span. I’ve been watching videos of reactions to the classic 1979 sci fi/horror classic Alien and the younger the viewer the more likely they are to complain that “nothing happens until a half hour into the movie.” Yeah, nothing but scene setting and character development. They want the horror scares to start right away.
Something similar happened in the porn business. In the 1970’s, movies like Behind The Green Door and The Opening Of Misty Beethoven were feature films with plots and characters and some very explicit scenes. Nowadays, a porn film is sex from start to finish and no real story or character development. Some black/white/Asian guy having whatever kind of sex with a 20 year old blonde/redhead/black girl. Two lesbians going at it hammer and tong. A twink going down on three friends out in the woods. Stuff like that. As far as characterization, it’s limited to what you see them doing or wearing. Stereotypes. She’s a woman in a room with a blackboard, she’s a teacher. He’s in a garage with a car on a lift and he’s wearing overalls, he’s a mechanic.
The electronic age has made many of us, especially the young, want a predigested bullet pointed version of reality.
October 4, 2024 at 2:25 am #54852October 4, 2024 at 3:11 am #54853I wonder if there is any place in middle east outside of Israel that has a curriculum in history that is not Muslim propaganda?
Obviously they take Jew hatred to an extreme. Turns out most Muslims deny there was an ancient Jewish civilization in Israel/Judea.
October 4, 2024 at 9:16 am #54854This article will give a good insight into secularism in Islamic schooling. It is dated April 1, 2018, in the Gregorian calendar.
October 4, 2024 at 3:20 pm #54855He is a modern Muslim thinker so ya know we can’t tinker. Islam is a stinker.
I noticed a lot of support for intelligent design. Whatever is amazing and beautiful is because Allah created everything. And if you can’t use your own eyes you Atheist bastards then may you fry for all eternity.
I asked a lot of pointed questions. Ya know what i got for responses. Diddley squat. The level of ignorance finally caused me to absquatulate like a repentant hurricane holdover before the gathering storm.

Muslims hijacked the religion of the Jews and then turned it against them. Of course, the Jews started out as polytheists but when the Persians swooped in to conquer Judea, bringing their monotheistic Zoroastrianism along, the Jews figured that monotheism was the way to go. It’s only fitting that the Persians got saddled with the most mind-numbing version of the Jewish religion. The average Iranian is obviously getting fed up with the fundi nonsense. Thus, Netanyahu’s message to them. The clueless Palestinians, however, are very deeply indoctrinated and mentally enslaved by their Iranian overlord/Mullahs.
October 4, 2024 at 8:13 pm #54857Robert isn’t that old testament language…something about take no gods before me an obvious indication that the ancient hebrews were polytheists? And yea there is irony in that nonsense comes back to bite the originators which were not even original.
From what i have read and heard i think Iran is ripe for a revolution. Hopefully they won’t abide by wishes of Biden administration to avoid their sites that are involved in nuclear development. Getting rid of that Islamic hell regime would i think add some stability to middle east.
