John you are kind of funny. You come here to say atheists are insulting and condescending horrible humans. But your the one who is doing the insulting and it is gratuitous. It is like walking into a locker room and accosting a team accusing them of being intrusive. And i have not seen anything of substance from you. You say what others think…[Read more]

The Fallacy of Science vs. Religion The atheists’ frequent claim that science and religion are mutually exclusive is demonstrably false. If atheists were as “rational” and “intelligent” as they are always claiming, they would not constantly resort to mendacity. Science pursues truth. The list of scientists as men and women faith is long…[Read more]

That’s the constant atheist arrogance, that you’re so very intelligent you couldn’t possibly be wrong. Please. The Unabomber is a genius. He’s doing life in prison for murdering people after living in a filthy rathole cabin.

The article given, says: “As to the more exciting explanations, I doubt that religion causes stupidity if only because some of the most brilliant people of history, such as Isaac Newton, were highly religious like most of their contemporaries. … In short, discussing correlations between IQ and religiosity without a grasp of the relevant…

RE: Newton. Of course he was religious, the alternative was prison or death like with Galileo. FFS Simon, take a look at the most religious countries and US states and tell me how great their lives are. Maybe you need a trip to Mississippi or Saudi and chat with all the geniuses there.

Sunday School 5 years, 3 months agoRobert i get those sentiments.
I keep thinking how emblematic of human futility is the politicization of covid. Was thinking that there is a new dynamic at work but upon further reflection maybe it is same old same enhanced and fueled by algorithms of social media.
On the one hand there is a perceived threat to the established order. History…[Read more]

i knew a guy in his 30s who had a pacemaker. Pacemaker had to be replaced once every decade. Told me there was a 1 percent chance he would die. He died. Statistics are filled in by the unfortunate.

Unseen wrote…One observation I often make in discussions about death is “Dying is an experience. Death is not.”
That is a great line. I wonder whether there is flexibility in the definition of death. As our medical knowledge grows our capability of doing the Lazarus shuffle increases. Last decade’s dead man is perhaps waiting to be res…[Read more]

Rest in peace is a nonsense notion. One can no more rest in peace than in a state of turmoil. Rest requires a you. Aint no you in the great beyond.
I get the connection with anesthesia. But i like the stories of how it actually feels to die. And many humans have been clinically dead and come back. My uncle had that experience. He said he lied…[Read more]

If the Greeks of antiquity had come to dominate the world in the way that the Greek Freak dominated the NBA finals then the Barbarians might have adopted the term People of barbarism.

Yeah Unseen i think what you are getting at is that the perspective of the dominant population produces the descriptors of others. It is so arbitrary to refer to Blacks as colored or people of color. Except it is not arbitrary. It is because White or what passes for white is the normal default state of humans. Had the Blacks conquered Whites then…[Read more]

Sunday School 5 years, 3 months agoMe likes Hume a great deal. But he made an error in crediting the free market place of ideas when he opined that Catholicism would die if its proponents were not punished for speaking. Catholicism is so illogical i am paraphrasing that broadcasting its tenets to all would cause it to croak.

Yeah Pope it is a mainstream thing. No doubt. It is also stupid as can be.
I’ve come up with a brilliant acronym to replace POC. In so doing the stain of coloured and all associations is abjured and rebuked. The stain is the abhorrent and implicit meaning in which Whites are standard model default ACTUAL humans and Blacks are colored, debased…[Read more]

Pope, there is no question that language evolves. If you read old literature you are cognizant of words that are archaic and words that once were this and now that. And the this words sometimes change meanings when they become that. There is some scale or other that purports to give the frequency of various word usage during prior years or…[Read more]

Pope, it does not work for me. The three or four authors took the position more or less that the term POC is an expression of the opposition to oppression by Whites. A united front. (Yeah i am paraphrasing without any bs) On that basis the addition of other populations that are now included in POC minimizes those groups who have suffered the…[Read more]

Quick addendum: An entire population or populations ought never be defined by their nexus to another group particularly when that nexus paints them in a bad light-the lens through which they had been perceived.

Hay.la.luyah Simon…glad to know somebody agrees with me.
Most of the authors i read who dislike the term, POC, are opposed because of how it has broadened in meaning to be more inclusive. In being more inclusive it fails to distinguish the levels of oppression various people have experienced. For me that is legit but secondary. STOPS the rant…[Read more]
