At work recently, a lady asked me, “where were you born?” I said my answer….and her response was, “You’re a long way from home!”
She was a sweet old lady. Maybe 80 something….
But what she was really doing was insinuating that I needed to “go back to where I came from.” As my cousins say, “we didn’t cross the boarder. The boarder crossed us.”….
Gadsden purchase…..Hello…so….
I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re never ever going to be the same again. I’ll never forget the joy, smiles, and true empowerment the entire country felt the night Obama won the election. I’ve never seen our entire nation so happy and United…..
only it wasn’t.
that’s just what you saw on tv. The TRUTH is, the “other half” who didn’t vote for him and wasn’t happy….at all…was planning their next move. And we are now seeing it play out before our very eyes. We were all pawns on Trump’s chess board….but he was also one of “theirs.” Do they care about the damage (permanent damage) he has caused our nation?
Nope.
as long as “they” get what “they” want. And they did. And they have. They have won in spades. Don’t believe me? Just look at the Supreme Court we now have. That’s really all “they” wanted. Now that it’s done, there’s no going back.
Are we ever going to go back to being a nation like what we saw on TV the night Obama won his first presidential election? I personally do not believe so.
We are now a nation with bigots of many shades. The crazy ones bust into the capitol trying to kill our Vice President. The little old ladies in residential homes insult their staff as they are trying to serve them dinner. Is one more dangerous than the other? Or is there really any difference at all? Collectively, they’re all part of the same group of deluded GOP bigots. Their collective impact on our society has made this country unsafe. I believe that in a very ironic way….that little old lady is right. I am a long way from home. And I would love to go live in Mexico and return to my ancestral home. And never look back. Because this country is FULL of bigots. And really….really really really stupid people.
the really scary thing is….it’s only going to keep getting worse.
October 28, 2022 at 5:54 am #45284Antisemitism is on the rise too. That is not a good sign either. I don’t know where i am from. So not sure where i would go when US implements its final solution.

October 28, 2022 at 1:47 pm #45286Since the Jews missed the boat, these people think they are now the chosen ones. This righteous entitlement comes from their gut level; they are indoctrinated. Non-WASPS and LGBTQ people are their Canaanites. They feel downtrodden like the Israelites and every Sunday morning they get dressed up and gather together in their house of hate to reaffirm their fucked-up world view. Drilled into their small minds. And here is what they hate:
October 28, 2022 at 4:33 pm #45288Jews missed the boat?
Which Jews think they are the chosen people?
Who is in the video and how does it relate to your point?
October 28, 2022 at 4:35 pm #45289I forget what video I was watching during the last few days but a young Asian-looking guy was being interviewed about something and his name was displayed, it was something like “Derek Chan,” (I remember Derek vividly, the last name I just pulled out of my ass) and for a moment I thought the name Derek (roots in Old German) paired with Chan (about as Chinese as they come) was quite odd. Cognitively dissonant.
Then I slapped myself upside the head and remembered that this is a country where the Chan family could have been here for four or more generations and, like most people, give their children names based more on how they sound to the parents’ ears than for any rational reason.
So, that was my brief moment of racism this week.

So, I guess you don’t know a lot about Judaism(?). That the Jews are God’s Chosen People is a basic tenet of Judaism.
October 28, 2022 at 5:10 pm #45292@unseen my son has a Mexican last name, and first name is….not. I remember when we were trying to pick out a name for him, I wanted his first name to be some thing that would never be miss pronounced, that everybody has pretty much heard of in the US, and that was more of a classic name, not one of those pussy boy names you know? A manly name and definitely not something that is a unisex name. And hopefully a name that is not easily made fun of… So I ended up naming him after my dad. But his middle name is a Mexican name… But nobody called him by his middle name except for his grandparents in Mexico, Because his middle name is the same as his grandfather in Mexico, so he was named after both of his grandfathers. Interesting to think that you probably would not have had those thoughts with a Hispanic name,…
I guess we all have a little bit of racism in us somewhere.
I will admit that I am racist.
I am racist against deluded, intolerant, stupid white people who think they should be able to ethnically cleanse our nation and run the world.
I want to make myself a T-shirt that says, “All lives matter, (except those of you stupid rich white people who think you run the world and are entitled to everything, and think you are superior to anyone who is not white. Do us all a favor and go get hit by a bus you arrogant son-of-a bitch.”
October 28, 2022 at 5:24 pm #45293Unseen, i actually do not know much about Judaism. Closest i came was a few visits to a synagogue with relatives and in a Jewish summer camp against the instructions of my parents i had some kind of class in some kind of Judaism. I remember looking at a bible in Hebrew and how you read it backwards.
I was however illustrating the point i have made several times here. Namely, it is really f’d up how the word Jew or Jews means so many things. If you say Irish or German it does not mean Catholic or Lutheran. For that matter it is to my knowledge the only word that connotes any of ethnicity, culture and religion. It is a way to calumniate an entire people and consistent with the history of Europe and its derivatives.
I really do not get the video or the missed the boat metaphor. However when you say Jews ______ are racist or whatever it needs qualification. I assume it is some orthodox group. Christians got there hate from such people. I have no use for them with their backwards notions and hatred of various groups. But don’t say Jews. It is simply not true. Way too broad a brush. In fact many individuals and Jewish groups were at the forefront of fighting for civil rights. I know that from having done original research in the Boston Public Library for a paper on US immigration. And it was not simply atheists who are ethnically Jewish, it was some form of reform Judaism that backed civil rights in a big way. And that is why it is a gross misrepresentation to point to Jews of all people as a monolith. It is also sad that there is an antisemitic element among American Blacks who probably have no clue about the history of civil rights.

Really? You never picked on resentment by xtians toward Jews for being the original chosen people who rejected the one true messiah? I have read and heard xtians blame Jews for the death of jesus, and this is totally idiotic because that is what saved xtians from sin. It’s fucked beyond repair. It’s the basis for hatred for centuries. Not dissimilar to how Muslims consider xtians and Jews for being apostates for not believing in Mohammed.
Deuteronomy 7:6-8
For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. “The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the Lord loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.Deuteronomy 14:2
For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.Deuteronomy 26:17-19
You have today declared the Lord to be your God, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice. The Lord has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the Lord your God, as He has spoken.”2 Samuel 7:23-24
And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods? For You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your own people forever, and You, O Lord, have become their God.1 Kings 8:53
For You have separated them from all the peoples of the earth as Your inheritance, as You spoke through Moses Your servant, when You brought our fathers forth from Egypt, O Lord God.”1 Kings 10:9
Blessed be the Lord your God who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel; because the Lord loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”October 28, 2022 at 5:48 pm #45295Oh hell yes Robert. Of course i have read about it repeatedly. I have heard it.
“Who killed Christ? The Jews killed Christ!” Those motherfuckers. Christianity loves to hate Jews. Eastern Orthodox too. And the part of that equation that is not usually recognized i think is that it is particularly troubling for some Christians to realize that JC was not viewed as any great shakes by his own people.
The chosen people BS gets laid on all Jews as the basis for zionism whereas the movement actually began in the 19th century by thinkers who were secular and saw the trajectory of history as it relates to Jews. And how correct they were. But it is easy to think ill of people who consider themselves the chosen people. What arrogant crap. Of course all religion is at its core arrogant.
October 28, 2022 at 7:01 pm #45296Once, when driving in central London, I began to make a left turn into a side street which I had forgotten had recently become one-way only. I reversed as I had hardly entered it and intended to take the next left. I was immediately stopped by a cop car with sirens blaring and blue lights on. There was no other traffic near me when I reversed so I was not sure of the problem. Later I found out that they had been fishing for cars that had made the turn.
The four cops surrounded the car, which was my bosses Mercedes 500 with personalized number plates. I was delivering it to him as I had driven him home in it the previous night as he was over the driving limit. I was fully insured to drive it.
I was in my early 20’s and I gave them my details. One of them wanted to know “how the fuck a paddy gets to drive a car like that”. Another one asked, “All right Mick, show me your license”.
(Keep in mind that this was the mid 1980’s and the IRA was active in London at the time).
I refused to show him anything other than a bemused face that translated to a look that said “Well fuck you from a height”. He said “You don’t want me to have to ask you again son”.
You haven’t asked me for anything yet, I replied.
I asked for your driving license!
No, you did not. You asked someone called Mick for his license. I already told you my name, father.
What are you calling me father for?
Well, why are you calling me ‘son’ then.
We found a smart Alec here men, he said to his colleagues.
You are half correct. I am not called Alec either.
I don’t appreciate the attitude I am getting here.
I fully understand. I have little or no respect for you at the moment which is a shame but that is down to your ignominious behavior in front of all these witnesses (pointing to all my witnesses :-)) and your lack of professionalism in front of your colleagues.
I produced my full endorsement free British driving license and my British government ID.
They made some calls and told me I could go when they realized everything was in order.
One of them handed me his notebook to sign but flicked a page over as he handed it to me.
I looked at the blank page, flicked it backed to the correct page and initialed it. I looked him straight in the face and said “As you know officer, a police statement signed by an Irishman is just not worth the paper it is re-written on, is it?”.
I’m not sure how true that is Sir. I let him win the staring competition by putting on my sunglasses and wishing him a great day, drove away and telling myself not to grin until I took that next left.
October 28, 2022 at 7:27 pm #45299I have, on more than a few occasions, heard a Christian claim that the Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus.
I tell them that they should be ever grateful to the Jewish people for this. If they had not done so then Christians would not have been freed from their sins and would not have had the chance to be saved.
You should be forever thanking the Jewish people in your daily prayers because they made it possible to restore your broken relationship with your God. The Jews followed your God’s plan that allowed Jesus to die for the atonement of your sins and yet you would prefer if they had prevented God’s divine plan to happen? What is wrong with you people? It’s like being angry with the Lotto authority when they pay you a record-breaking jackpot!! Have you no gratitude???
The look on their faces is priceless.
October 28, 2022 at 7:33 pm #45300Reg, that was entertaining…so much so…that it ought to be published.

The population at large can be bigoted and ignorant and fodder for Nazi indoctrination and Fascism.
