However, when I stumbled onto Laws of Form, it blew my mind.

Why did it blow your mind?  I’ve heard it said it’s like an LSD trip for mathematicians.

The system is really “out of the box” thinking. Or in the box. Well, let’s just use half a box

It looks hard.  Does it have any practical applications?

If I was doing some acid I would have trouble deciding which half of the box to use 🙂

I swear sometimes I do think these math and physics geniuses were autistic. The ideas of Euler, Fourier, Laplace, Maxwell and Gauss just riddled my electrical engineering texts, so naturally I was interested in how and why they were so prolific.

Okay, I have changed my mind and I will pick the other half of the box 🙂

I seem to remember something related to the Riemann hypothesis.

It certainly has a form that lends itself to folks who are naturally visual.

I knew someone who claimed to have synesthesia but I think it was just a pigment of their imagination.

    I have colour synesthesia :).
Something like 40% of people have it in a small way.

If you’d like to check whether you are in that 40%, ask yourself “What colour is Wednesday?”

You will either have no idea what this question even means, or you will have a specific colour that comes to mind. The latter are those with at least a touch of colour synesthesia.

For me, numbers and letters all carry specific colours, shades and textures.  Z is dark blue and velvety. No idea why, but it is.

If I give you the number Pi, what color comes to mind?

If you have synesthesia in color association or otherwise and you are unhappy about that simply exercise your free will to eliminate the weirdness.

@unseen Pi is like a long Chinese dragon. The three is a lead strong red. The 1 is white but then 4 green and 2 yellow. Effectively colours tailing off into the distance.

@jake I like the weirdness.  I met someone who has sound synesthesia and listens to music whilst she watches colours dance.

    It’s a fun oddity

Strega that is a great description of pi.

I read a book about synesthesia. It is an interesting attribute. I can well imagine most people who have it see it as a gift. I was only jabbing free willers.

I could feel musical chords or phrases as pointy or soft shapes in my hands when I was a kid. I was playing piano every weekend in an ice cream shop when I was 7. I still slightly feel music as textures in the back of my neck.
