    Robert,

I don’t know how to post a reply to an update, so I’ll have to post it here.

Trump would have no pretext for using the National Guard or Military on cities if the Mayors and City Councils and Judges had a handle on things.

What happened to Irina Zarutsa in Charlotte, NC is just a single example of how rotten life in U.S. cities can be. The NewsBreak app provides a non-stop stream of other daily horrors.

    Jake,

And it was not primarily a Christian movement or spurred by it notwithstanding Lutheranism or the Concordat.

Here’s where you’re mistaken about Nazism. It couldn’t have gotten as far as it did without support from both Catholic and Protestant religion. The Nazis also got support from Occultism such as Madame Blavatsky, who gave them the notion of the German people being the superior Aryans.

As if city life is worse now than the 60s and 70s. Then the cities were deprived of funds during the decades long white exodus out to the burbs but when that was found the be too boring, the trend reversed and wealthy whites wanted back in, redevelopment and rents went up, the propaganda started when Karens and Kens smelled too much urine.

Divisive propaganda is about all we get from the White House when we are not busy talking windmills ruining golf courses, new ball rooms, or digging out democratic rose gardens. The entire planet knows we are fucking done under the ridiculous pretext being too “woke” as we reinstate admiration for confederate racist millionaire/general traitors and memorialize a schoolyard murdered bigot who trivialized the 300 plus gun related school events/yr as being acceptable.

    Enco i don’t see it.

I read a book about the Concordat and it is fuzzy now but the support from both Lutheran and Catholic Church was strong. Yet it was not i think indispensable. You might wonder what would have happened if it had been denounced by either superstition.

If you want to assert that all of the necessary conditions were in place including the religiosity of the populace ok. The long standing outstanding hatred and resentment of Jews who were more accomplished than other Germans. The spiraling and out of control inflation. The penal Treaty of Versailles. The predisposition enhanced by religion to swap out one form of authoritarianism and mysticism for another.

So, “White flight” and “White Gentrification” both are responsible for making cities bad? Sounds like somebody is holding to an unfalsifiable position, not to mention “divisive propaganda” as well as denying agency to anyone else for the state of American cities.

So, are Michael’s and Hobby Lobby holding Fall courses on Strawman making?

Thing is irrational thoughts tend to come in bunches, and tend to reinforce each other. Also, the Churches hadn’t been penetrated with Enlightenment or Modernity yet, so they were a push-over for a movement like Nazism.

Simon isn’t it presumptively bad faith to silence someone> I mean maybe not if it is the far left and the speaker is opposed to the lefty mythology. Or if it is Trump it is always in good faith to silence his opposition.

You do bring up a great point, albeit in a different thread. What is meant by “good faith” and “bad faith?”. And how can you tell who has which?

The perverse and indefatigable super glue fixation on Jews accelerates instead of diminishing. One might have expected in the wake of the holocaust and with the growth of the left and the putative humanist values the latter would appertain.

While Rome burns the greater part of the judging world condemns the most worthy nation one could hope to see and the people who are the forever scapegoats. Bill Maher underplays the dynamic.

That is a good point.  I think that good faith debate follows the charitable rules of fair play and doesn’t use underhand or aggressive tactics to try to win an argument.  For example, no making stuff up and no strawmanning people.
