To Do or not To Do 11 years, 3 months agoAlso, you call my defintion “idiosyncratic” whereas it is really merely a minority usage, but it is sanctioned by the dictionary.
Your dictionary definition in both cases are examples of very closely (if not indistinguishable) related fallacies (ad hominem and avoiding the question via personal attack) and have nothing to do with Unseen’s cre…[Read more]

Atheist Zone 11 years, 3 months agoUmar, Two things:
1) I found out I can upload to the media library on my (dormant) blog (letreasonreign.wordpress.com) and reference them here. That’s an alternative to generic photo uploading sites (that oftentimes delete your photos after a while, resulting in a dead link here).
2) If you do go for a plugin, i suggest you ensure it doesn’t…[Read more]

Atheist Zone 11 years, 3 months agoUpload photo to any image hosting website like http://postimage.org/ and then use img link/button on text editor to add image.
There are third party solutions/plugins available that will let us upload photos directly to our server. I am trying to find the best. I shall update you here when i add such plugin.

Atheist Cats 11 years, 3 months agoI started this group because once I got a cat I started studying them and learning about them and along the way I discovered that the domestic cat is far more remarkable than people give it credit for. More intelligent in some respects than dogs, they are actually still wild. Almost any house cat, if it finds itself abandoned or lost, can quickly…[Read more]

Atheist Zone 11 years, 3 months agoHow about Like or Upvote buttons? Apologies if this has already been discussed. I just want to be able to give people a vote when they say something awesome, without needing to take up space with a reply.

I’d like a “Like” button or a thumbs up, but I don’t want an Unkie or thumbs down one.

screw you, autocorrect ^^^

I’m fine with that, too. I don’t like when bad answers are hidden by downvotes. It’s not constructive. On other sites, I know the mods do appreciate a “flag” option for comments that might violate rules, since they can’t read everything.

To Do or not To Do 11 years, 3 months agoYou got the first one wrong. Just take off the conclusion part (“so…”) and you have it. It’s an attack on the person not what he says.
Without the explicit or implicit claim that the “attack” is relevant to the target’s position or the topic at hand there is no logical fallacy. It also doesn’t have to be an attack; it could be a complim…[Read more]

The fallacy – global warming isn’t real because Mike told me it was, and he’s an idiot. Is that right?

A fallacy isn’t an untruth, as you say, rather it’s a badly constructed or irrelevant argument.
As opposed to a formal fallacy (a badly constructed syllogism, for examp…[Read more]
