This excuse continues to prevent America from progressing…

Nice… I could relax to that and set my brain to recess mode.
This is my stoner jam…

Ah, Hitchens. 🥰
Yes, the act of taking responsibility and making necessary amends was the lesson I was conveying to Liam, my son…No vicarious redemption of asking God to wash away my sins.
I wonder if words with similar meanings in other languages have religious connotation as well?

I’m still evaluating my personal level of determinism. At this point in time, I DO still feel guilt for some wrong doing on my part. I understand though what you mean. A hard determinist would likely not feel remorseful.

Contrition even has somewhat of a religious connotation to it as right? We need a word revolution! Lol

My 10 year old son and I had a discussion about restitution… making something right that you have wronged. We then got into the definition of repentance. This word has a religious connotation, but in general is just defined as remorse, right? So as an atheist, I feel that if I fuck up… repentance would be having the awareness that I did s…[Read more]

Some of you are a gentle reminder that intelligent, rational minded people still really do exist in my life…albeit an online capacity…returning every now and then to read up on some forums helps ground me a little. Thanks for that.

People around me think they can pray the COVID-19 away…Help. Me.

Think opportunity.
Anything that requires supernatural capabilities…put your money where your mouth is!
Pray the gay away…I would pray if it would make religion go away..haha

Yeah, we have either that or complete denial.

I can’t think of anything nice at the moment. Do they have a sense of humor? https://youtu.be/UXrB7Y6gVN8

I always enjoy the Thoughts and Prayers app video. I’ve always been good at social distancing…I’m just using it as a multipurpose tool these days.

The best thing to do is create a virus that installs a pray the gay away program on every computer in the world. That way God will hear the combined cyber-prayers of billions of computers and hopefully wipe out the sinful LGTBQ+ agenda that he created to test our faith in the bearded man in the sky who only reveals himself through ancient…

That seems to be the consensus of those here who contribute regularly. Is there anything that can alter our trajectory?

@jake, Yeah…however it was a federal mandation to restrict all non-essential visitors. Not so surprising…a hospice clergyman is considered essential, EVEN when the resident is not actively dying.

As a nursing home administrator…this week has been hell preparing the what-ifs. We’re required to restrict all visitation to decrease the risk.
I’m in WV…One the only states in the US to not have a confirmed case as of yet. My son is out of school until at least April 10.

The panic is media driven. Everybody needs to wash their damn hands and if/when they come into contact with it, be responsible enough to self quarantine until they are no longer contagious. Stockpiling is ridiculous. If you have at least enough supplies to hold you for at least a 14 day period, you’re good. Face masks are being used wrong. A…[Read more]

Jody Lee replied to the topic Sexual Fluidity in the forum Science 6 years, 6 months ago
I think society has pushed us to a place where a majority doesn’t even understand the concept of sexual fluidity. We have almost boomeranged back to a place where people can open their mind to it and over time, I think sexual fluidity will become more natural and common.
