Sunday School 10 months, 4 weeks ago@jake I am horrified at the way you grew up with such animosity. Iâm full of admiration for the fact that youâve turned out to be so decent.
Youâre much more tribal here in America. People really like labels and grouping terms. Maybe itâs because you had to invade the land you live in, and had to manage indigenous peoples, so itâs a Cowboys a…[Read more]

Sunday School 10 months, 4 weeks ago@enco  There is no perfection, and arguably no equality in real life.  An example of equity might be the allocation of school bus costs on a headcount basis, even though some students live much further from school than others.
It is precisely because there is no such thing as equality, that equity steps into the breach.

Sunday School 10 months, 4 weeks agoAlthough I am very aware that anti-semetic beliefs or Jew hatred exists, I have somehow managed to avoid encountering any, in all my years. Itâs bewildering to me. Itâs as if everyone else can physically see something and I canât. Maybe itâs partly because I grew up in an atheist family. Maybe itâs because there were many different religions…[Read more]

Sunday School 11 months agoWe can get swallowed by our own prejudices on occasion without even being aware of that.
@Jake I disagree with your perception of âleftiesâ. Perhaps we have a different interpretation of the definition of âleftiesâ.
I am a leftie. In my world view, equity is better than equality, women should be in charge of their own fucking bodies, we should…[Read more]

I really like this point. It makes so much sense for todayâs white river rafting kakistocracy.

And yet, Simon, they proclaim their Christianity, ignoring the parable of The Good Samaritan, the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and the whole “Let he who is without sin cast (blah, blah, blah” thing.

Someone said that Trump is like Roadrunner – no matter how many anvils or sticks of dynamite you throw at him, he always escapes triumphant. So, I doubt if anything’s going to stop him except the cold grave.
Morally speaking, the MAGA Republicans, headed by Trump, are:
- morally disengaged – they just don’t care that much about right and…

Why are the GOP’s policies so mean? Do they really want a lot of Americans to die?

While all three sisters are attractive in unique and widely differing ways, it has turned out that the one who has the largest following in discussion groups, video commentaries, etc., is the shyest of the three, Ale, the tall quiet bassist. Now, I think most people who think about such things will have to admit that Ale is the most…[Read more]

Wow! Not only is The Warning a great band, but they have even inspired another talent to write a heavy metal tribute to them.

I’m starting to assess their place in the fold. I agree with one recent reactor who said that he believes they have a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame waiting for them someday.
And why?
Let’s start with why not, bearing in mind that they are still quite young and likely near the beginning of their career. First, their guitarist/singer,…[Read more]
