I saw on Facebook recently that some people say that atheists are more likely to commit suicide than other groups. I don’t know if that’s true or not. If it is, then it could be for a number of reasons. Atheism is a nihilistic position in that, simplistically, it’s the “worship of nothing”. However, that’s for people who over-think thi…[Read more]

There will be no note in a bottle telling whatever (if anything) comes after what our universe was like. That we beheld beauty.

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months agoHave a great week everyone!!
God is by definition the holder of all possible knowledge, it would be impossible for him to have faith in anything. Faith, then, is built upon ignorance and hope.

Everything passes, everything comes to an end, all is temporary, all is change. How to deal with it?

It’s been a sad day for me. It started with watching Paulina of The Warning singing the song Breathe, which she has sung in public only once and probably will never do again. Obviously, it expresses a deep hurt we may never understand unless she someday feels at peace with it enough to talk about it.
Then, I started reflecting on a ride I was on…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months agoJake, I don’t even think that anyone’s still pondering who to support. The ‘Undecided’ is now those who haven’t decided whether to vote or not.  If some Republicans can’t bring themselves to vote for the Democratic nominee on principle, they may simply not bother to vote at all. This is really the only dial that’s left. This has to be who she’s l…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months agoNo, I wrote it myself and posted it on the old TA site about 12 years ago when theists used to join. But I have spliced other posts into it and got AI to rework it was as one post. Christians are generally to afraid to have open debates on sites likes this and prefer to ‘post and run’ on FB instead. Facebook allow them to reach their intellectual maturity.

Sunday School 1 year, 7 months ago@Jakelafort – If you have written negatively about Trump you may want to write something in public sphere that praises him.
I have a friend who is going to finish his Masters in Philosophy at a university in the USA next spring. Yesterday I suggested to him that he should write a treatise on the merits of MAGA policies with praise for it going to…[Read more]
