Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoNo, it’s not on general release yet. I burst out laughing when I saw the trailer. I am the only person I know who actively invites god peddlers into my house. Mormons, Jehovah Witless groups, Born Again types etc. After a few hours they start looking at each other and try to come up with an excuse to exit stage left.
Can I get you anything e…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoHave a great week everyone!!
God is by definition the holder of all possible knowledge, it would be impossible for him to have faith in anything. Faith, then, is built upon ignorance and hope.

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoNo, I wrote it myself and posted it on the old TA site about 12 years ago when theists used to join. But I have spliced other posts into it and got AI to rework it was as one post. Christians are generally to afraid to have open debates on sites likes this and prefer to ‘post and run’ on FB instead. Facebook allow them to reach their intellectual maturity.

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoScience is the systematic endeavor to observe empirical facts about reality and use them to formulate coherent theories that explain natural phenomena. As new measurements and observations are made, an increasing number of facts become available. Consequently, scientific theories must be continuously revised, expanded, or even replaced. Sunday School 1 year, 8 months ago@Jakelafort – If you have written negatively about Trump you may want to write something in public sphere that praises him.
I have a friend who is going to finish his Masters in Philosophy at a university in the USA next spring. Yesterday I suggested to him that he should write a treatise on the merits of MAGA policies with praise for it going to…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoI had a debate recently with a theist (No, I don’t have a life) who spent time trying to convince me that Evolution was ‘only a theory’. I won’t repeat it here as you are all familiar with the usual tropes about Irreducible Complexity, Fine Tuning Arguments, The Watchmaker analogy etc. I pointed out the assumptions and fallacies in his argumen…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoPossibly irrelevant comment: the philosopher Willard V.O. Quine held that everything exists once properly categorized. For example, faeries exist when you categorize them as mythological beings.
Aristotle had an elaborate system of categories and that influenced our way of thinking about the world until Occam came along and sorted that out. What…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoNew Atheist in Ireland: Reg, thank you for your patience. You have been very good at listening and your arguments have finally persuaded me that my belief in the Christian god is no longer possible to maintain. What really triggered it for me was when you said to me to embrace and challenge my doubts and not to fear them as I was always told to…[Read more]
