@kristina – Everyone takes a turn trying to attribute actual meaning to the randomly generated quote. Yes, but only at the Quantum level. Using the term “Quantum” imparts Woo statements with so much more meaning. 🙂
That’s why I always refer to one-night-stands as ‘quantum entanglements’. Make’s the void seem just…[Read more]

@Kristina – Yes, that is true. They are also masters of revisionism. I constantly hear apologists claim how the Catholic Church was a beacon of light in the Dark Ages when it came to Education, Science, Cosmology, Abolition of Slavery, etc. In most cases this is completely untrue.
In a generation or two we will hear them claim to have been…[Read more]

“Hypothetically, everyone is supposed to have the same protections and rights save for when there are bona fide exemptions.”
Oh absolutely! Yet even in my own well developed society and functioning democracy(Australia) this is rarely the case. Although Oz does have some robust Social Justice policies (in health, education and…[Read more]

Yeah, Dunning-Kruger is very interesting.
Over my Public Service Career I often had to write performance appraisals.
Part of my process was to sit down with the person first and ask them to evaluate their own performance.Without exception, each person was far less positive about their performance than I was. No doubt at least some…[Read more]

I am aware of just how deeply poisoned many Americans are against even the slightest hint of “socialism” but change simply isn’t impossible.
sure it’s not impossible. But just saying that does nothing because the people that are affected need that change like – yesterday. It does nothing for the here and now. People like me who are str…[Read more]

People can change that system, hypothetically.
There are certain things that people can do to increase their chances of changing circumstances for themselves individually. But from a systemic level, it is never going to not be the case that very small percentage of people carry all the wealth and everybody else is at the bottom. It’s c…[Read more]

It’s not really a cold hard world though. We act like that, but that has more to do with the system we’ve enabled rather than some objective necessity. In countries like Canada and the United States, let’s say, we’re not exactly dealing with great resource scarcities. We produce considerable excesses in many areas. If our…

That’s a nice sentiment, but it doesn’t really make sense.
It will make more sense when/if you become a mother.
That doesn’t really have much bearing on what I wrote. I am saying that there isn’t a fixed relationship between things like sacrifice, hours worked, value and compensation. It’s not really a statement on what sac…[Read more]

That’s a nice sentiment, but it doesn’t really make sense.
It will make more sense when/if you become a mother. Until then it probably won’t make sense to you. Unless you have walked in the shoes of a working mother, especially if you are a single mother, you have no clue. I have faced these challenges first hand and I can t…

@Kristina, yes…I do love a good debate but some of these events seem to be little more than a cult of personality stunt.

@Kristina – I would agree with you. I will read or watch posts or videos that I think I will disagree with. This is not to fuel some sense of outrage but rather to challenge the validity of my own views and to try to understand the views of those I disagree with. As humans we tend to be unaware of how confirmation bias works unless we make the…[Read more]
