LOL on the one hand you get Americans saying that they “save the world” including “defending Europe” (somehow despite failing to help former Yugoslavia, Georgia and the Ukraine when Crimea is invaded) and then you have others complaining that the same amount spent on US corporate welfare is spent on Ukraine (which by the way, still contributes to…[Read more]

The U.S. has spent $115B on Ukraine. There are 337M Americans, meaning we have spent $341.25 for every American man, woman, and child. If you’re a family of three, they’ve spent about $1000 in your name. But don’t worry. You won’t get a bill in the mail. The government will just print the needed money.
Are you OK with this?

“Spiritual explanations”? Like maybe Yahweh, Odin, Zeus, Ahura Mazda, Gautama Buddha, and Krishna all got together, held a seance, and as a result Yahweh decided to create the universe?
Spiritualism like that?

Russians think they are going win by drowning Ukraine in their blood. Ukraine is much more resourceful, imaginative and motivated. When Russia runs out of criminals and ethnic minorities, Putin is a dead man.
Ukraine is so short on manpower they are kidnapping men they find on the…[Read more]

Col. Macgregor is back offering the flipside of what we are walloped over the head with daily by the mainstream press which propagandizes the notion that Ukraine is routing Russia.
According to Macgregor, inside the government it’s becoming clear that the alternative to peace is another “forever war” that (a) we can’t ultimately win and (b) which…[Read more]

It’s called creating a moral hazard or just enabling shitty behavior, which means you get more of it!
I wish sometimes you’d reflect your claims and statements back on your own ideology. You might remember a decade and a half ago, all sorts of banks going bust because of the moral hazards set up by an unregulated or underregulated economic sy…[Read more]

RichRaelian, All well and good, but where’s the Atheism angle to the story?
a) This is the Small Talk area and b) the OP isn’t about religion, and iii) so what?

I see this as an ongoing thread. Religion and politics are supposed to be the two subjects to be avoided in polite company. I disagree.
Others are welcome to post some of their favorites. The only rule: It has to be about religion or politics.

@Autumn – As more people shed their share of religion, instead of dissipating into the air, it concentrates in the remaining believers until it’s exploding out their asses.
That reminds me of the Hitchens quote about Jerry Falwell;
“If you gave [Jerry] Falwell an enema he could be buried in a matchbox.”

I considered Elden Ring because the world and the aesthetic are right up my alley. But I’ve never really been able to get into soulslike games.
I never took to the Dark Souls games. I found the first one too repetitive but did appreciate the difference it brought to the genre. But ER is different. The more I play it the more it grows on me. Th…[Read more]

Anomalies are nothing new. Sometimes they are explained away and sometimes they force an adjustment to or a revolution in the standard model. Nothing new there. However, you continue to advocate the least likely possible explanation, that the universe was made by a cosmic magician.

When I played D&D my character was a chaotic-evil spell-caster called Spliffo 🙂
I have been playing Eldin Ring on the PS5. It is set in a massive open world and beautifully rendered.
Years ago my neighbors complained that they hated the “regret” lyrics in this song….so I turned it up….to 11, of course.

Yes Noel, it is great news. I think most of them know it and are staging a last-ditch attempt at seeming relevant. The vitriol and hatred they spew forth is disgusting. Not just to us but also to many of their children too. They are a domestic threat to democracy.
Have a great week everyone!

The decline of white evangelical Christians continues to trend downwards. Good, because many of them want to take over every level of government.

When woke-ass, broke-ass Silicon Valley Bank gets bailed out, all the other banks are required by the FDIC to submit funds to cover Silicon Valley Bank’s loss. These other banks have to make up for this by charging their customers fees. This adversely impacts “the most unfortunate quartile.”

That’s a long list of anecdotes, but at a glance I can say these three don’t make much of a case for you. Would that I had the time for a meta-analysis of the whole list.
As you say, it’s a long list. Some entries will be more debatable than others.

It would seem you are asserting that wokeism is merely a fringe activity or a false narrative…without any evidence of your own. But surely you know that lack of evidence for something isn’t evidence that it is false, either
