Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoI have to admit that I don’t think of the Eastern Mediterranean countries as Asian. I think of them as Middle Eastern countries. Now, you can say “Eastern” really means “Asian,” but I don’t think of it that way.
I see this as one of those things people can define for themselves.

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoSome more Emo jokes:
· When I was a kid, I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realised, the Lord doesn’t work that way. So I just stole one and asked Him to forgive me … and I got it!
· So I’m at the wailing wall, standing there like a moron, with my harpoon.”
· A Mormon told me that they don’t drink coffee. I said, “A cup of co…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoJesus would be spinning in his grave if he had to listen to those guys! I always enjoy listening to the religious argue among themselves over their theologies.
Jerry! Jerry!Schism! Schism! Schism! When I see the JW’s approaching my house I ‘accidentally’ leave a copy of the Book of Moron (sic) on the coffee table.
I guess you know the Emo…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoReg,
I sometimes hold up a blank sheet of A4 (Letter) to show the religious beliefs of atheists on one side and a portrait of (their) God on the reverse. I follow up by suggesting that they hold onto it for a few days to reflect upon. It has actually helped a few people shake off their delusion!
Ackshuyally, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, and…[Read more]

Christians are mad that a Christian magazine (correctly) said Jesus was Asian.
So the Spoke-Into-Being/Flat-Earth/Holes-In-The-Firmament Dome/Light-Before-The-Sun/Animals-Before-Plants/Dust-Man/Rib-Woman/Blood Brothers/Mystery-Spouses Creationists are also pig-ignorant on Geography and Genetics?
Why am I not surprised?

Shallow Hal and how. No mention of free will. No mention of confirmation bias. Absolutely unattainable by humans albeit a lovely notion. Atheists tend to have their own mythology.

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoHappy New Year!
Are Neanderthals and Homo sapiens the same species?
Obviously since many of us have Neanderthal markers, that means that interbreeding yields fertile offspring. So how do we define species ?
A species (pl. species) is often defined as the largest group of organisms in which any two individuals of the appropriate sexes or ma…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 7 months agoI think the Prisoner’s Dilemma captures situations where trust is required in order for both sides to walk away with a payoff – to create a positive sum result. In this situation, trust is everything. The incentive is to trust.
I don’t think it captures collaboration per se. In collaboration, trust is also required to reach a positive sum re…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 7 months agoWe encounter scenarios like the prisoners dilemma more often than you think. And these test your integrity to your values when under pressure. At work two of us were at fault with a client, if we admit the error the client had a very tiny chance of being badly affected but guaranteed to complain and create problems for everyone and harm the…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 7 months agoThank you very much Strega. I am thinking of re-vamping it a bit so all ideas are welcome.
It is Christmas Day here and the little baby Jesus will be getting ready for “The First Breakfast”. I wonder what he will use the Myrrh for? Probably to disguise the smell of cow dung or camel breath.

My objection to that creche at The Church of Saints Peter and Paul (and Mary, Mary?) is that Baby Jesus isn’t to scale! It would take two Mommies to birth a baby that damn big! 😁
