Some number of days ago he was a good guy with a gun. Mass shootings are usually defined as 4 or more casualties, and we have had around 500 of those so far this year.
We lose around 108 people a day to gun violence. Picture what 100 dead bodies looks like, every day. Well over 300 people get shot on the average day.
MORE GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!
October 27, 2023 at 7:15 pm #50938What a red pickle telling us how many die each day. How many red blooded Amuricans are saved cuz day got guns to blow away the rapist Mexican immigrants crrossahn da border illegally! Yeah bitch. Take that and like it.
My 2nd mendmunt rites is holy. Don’t tread on me man. No regulations! Gawd, GUNS, my girlfriend, my bar, my truck wot make America Great. Trump done us right. Commy leftys is fuckin us over so shut the fuck up and buy a gun ya fuckin wusses.
October 29, 2023 at 7:38 am #50953Robert, Davis, and Unseen,
Some crucial details left out here, that were made very clear early on in this story:
Notice and pay attention to what the story covered. This man was a trained Army Reserve Marksman…You know, trained by the very Government whom you think is the only one that can determine who is competent to keep and bear arms.
Two, the Maine mass murderer’s first death threats were made on a U.S. Military base, one of the many U.S. Military bases which were revealed by the Fort Hood terrorist attacks of 2009 to be full of legally disarmed members of the U.S. Armed Forces. (Disarmed Members of the U.S. Armed Forces??? What in the actual fuck!?!?!?)
(As a related sidebar, all the disarmed military members and civilians who were shot and/or murdered at Fort Hood in 2009 were all shot and murdered by an Army Psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan. Some “helping professional” huh? And these are the people who are supposed to determine who is competent to keep and bear arms???)
Three, the Maine mass murderer had access to watercraft and possibly two vehicles. Clearly not a poor victim of the “root cause” of poverty that Unseen weeps crocodile tears for in his spaghetii-throwing tongue-clicking tsk-tsk.
Finally, the detail that is always left out of stories like this:
118,999,999 gun-owning U.S. Citizens did not do this mass murder.
The only good thing that came out of this horrible story is that the Maine mass murderer finally took the only life he had the right to take: his own. Too bad he didn’t do it before he did his murder spree.

What a red pickle telling us how many die each day. How many red blooded Amuricans are saved cuz day got guns to blow away the rapist Mexican immigrants crrossahn da border illegally! Yeah bitch. Take that and like it.

So let me see if I’ve got this straight, Jake…
You think U.S. Citizens have no right to keep and bear arms both for their individual self-defense and the defense of their borders…but Israeli Citizens do have those rights???
And since you have been so game all this time about the idea of pussy-footing around and negotiating with Vladimir Putin before he has been vanquished and driven before us with the lamentations of Russian Babushka dolls, do you also think that Ukrainians have no right to keep and bear arms for their own individual self-defense and the defense of their own borders???
Well, if this is what you think, you have some serious ‘splaining to do to all those U.S. Jewish students (who are also automatic Israeli Citizens under Israeli law) who were recently barricaded into a library in New York and could have easily gotten lynched!:
Uh, fuck yeah, Jake! The right to keep and bear arms and the Life, Liberty, and Property which those arms protect are kind of a big deal!

You mock, but the blood of students killed in imaginary lynchings is on your hands gun-o-phobe.
October 29, 2023 at 4:34 pm #50965Another shooting kills 2 and wounds 18 in Tampa because well it has been a day or two. Fifty police officers were patrolling the immediate area. NEED MORE GUNS!!!!!
October 29, 2023 at 4:55 pm #50966Autumn,
You get barricaded somewhere by hostile people and see if you like it.
October 29, 2023 at 5:04 pm #50967According to the Holy Bible women are not allow to speak with any authority. In fact, women should remain silent. A pastor said this and it is also clarified by an esteemed University. Even if they do speak, they certainly cannot be leaders within the church and make no bones about it (Huh Reg?).
Tush tush, Reg. That is a bit of a generalization. It’s true of only some Christian sects. I was raised in the Episcopal Church which is an Anglican tradition sect.
The Episcopals began ordaining women as priests in 1976. The Church of England did so almost 20 years later, in 1994.
I think the practice varies widely in the many minor ad hoc sects (some with just one church, often just a storefront), withi some relegating women to subservient roles and others actually having been founded and fronted by female preachers.

October 29, 2023 at 5:17 pm #50968118,999,999 gun-owning U.S. Citizens did not do this mass murder.
And not one of them prevented it, either.
How many of the nearly 20,000 people killed in the last year for which we have statistics (2022) were killed by someone exercising their right of self-defense.
Well, we don’t know exactly because nobody seems interested in accumulating this statistic (least of which, I’d waver, the NRA or GOP).
However, I watch the evening news just about every night and if we’re talking about someone defending his or herself on the street or from an attack by an intruder in a home or business or similar kinds of situations, it seems to be rare almost bordering on “never happens.”
So, it seems like (a) the good guy with the gun has very little work to do and (b) they’d have even less if the bad guys found it a lot harder to obtain guns in the first place.
Also, let’s note that not every killer is a person with a history of crime or drug addiction. More often than not it’s someone who got pissed off and had a gun handy and ended up doing something they’ll regret till their end of days.
October 29, 2023 at 5:23 pm #50970First Corinthians 14:33–35 states, “As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church” (ESV)
1 Timmy 2:12 states, “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence”.
Unseen, who are we to question the rules of the Christian god or Liberty University??????????????
If some sects have disobeyed their god and gone their own way, I think a plague might be visited upon them. They need to be very careful.
As for the Tush, I will leave it to the 3 Wise Men.
I been up, I been down
Take my word, my way aroundI ain’t askin’ for much
I said, Lord, take me downtown
I’m just lookin’ for some tush…October 29, 2023 at 7:37 pm #50972@ Reg
One of the best things about the Episcopalians is that, like the Unitarians/Universalists, they take The Holy Bible with a grain of salt. Just a “serving suggestion.”

I have no respect for the wish-washy intellect that these soft theocrats possess. Cherry picking the paragraphs that align with secular humanism and then go forth and worship the god anyway. Wimps. They act as enablers for the extremists.

Yes, but do they contend to have the ability to communicate with the Creator of the Universe using telepathy? Do they believe that they are to become immortals, like Catholics and Muslims?
Maybe they don’t go to the same extremes but they do believe the same nonsense. Drink enough Bud Light and you are still end up too drunk to make any sense. No one is ever a little bit pregnant.

This isn’t about whether it’s a fun situation to be in. I am sure it was rather intense and alarming. But no one was out lynching. There was no violence the protest. My understanding is the worst act to happen was that the paper sign an Israel supporter was holding got ripped. For you to act like the mob was on the cusp of murder is a real scumbag move.
