Here is an interesting new paper giving insight into the polarisation process. People think their political opponents are capable of terrible moral infringements. As opposed to, say, cheating, lying, bullying, vindictive, Machiavellian and self-serving, which is what Trump really is.

The shooter’s search history reveals that he researched Trump, Biden, and other prominent people as well. His political leanings are confusing, other than that he was a 2nd Amendment fanatic. His high school years were troubled as he was a bullied outsider.

Simple incompetence could account for why the Secret Service didn’t put a sniper on that roof. But how did the shooter know that rooftop was going to be empty? That seems strange.
