Politics 3 years, 5 months agoThere is a miniseries which you can watch on Netflix and elsewhere called The Family. It explains the dark Christian mechanism for subverting and taking over U.S. government.
The sad thing is that now that it’s all unfolding before our eyes, there’s probably little that can be done to stop it. We missed the…[Read more]

Politics 3 years, 5 months agoAll politics is local is a political adage that seems to be a reasonable statement. People tend to vote for a local politician that will represent their interests at a local level. In Atlanta, one of many States that have election deniers and incompetent people running for office next Tuesday, the adage falls flat on its face. People like…[Read more]

Politics 3 years, 5 months agoIt’s a good explanation of the mechanics of it, but not the root causes. I think the dissatisfaction of the aging- off-the-coasts-boomers knows no bounds. They feel they didn’t get their slice of pie and they were looking for a wrecking ball.

Politics 3 years, 5 months agoHere’s a take on why left and right candidates tend toward their extremes. I pretty much knew this already, but Fareed Zakaria has the best way to explain it that I’ve heard to date.

Politics 3 years, 5 months agoIt feels like I’ve mentioned Steve Bannon a dozen times or more.
I just remembered a Johnny Harris NYT video that went into this “take over the precincts” strategy. My link skips right to the meat of the issue, about nine minutes into the twenty-five minute…[Read more]

Is there a question to talk about?I can’t think of a good one. Perhaps this topic is more of a commentary on the evolution or devolution of our democracy. Politics 3 years, 11 months ago(This topic can be made broader than what the title indicates, with Populism, Nationalism, Authoritarianism, and Oligarchs on the rise around the world. E.g. Macron’s re-election is a pleasant exception. Even if you’ve already seen these news pieces, I consider some of these “iconic” to the Trump Era.)

Humanism 4 years agoFellow Unbelievers,
There’s a revival of an old and especially anti-Humanistic tradition that many got an eyeful of during the recent Oscars:
Honor Culture Is Back. We Eradicated It for a Reason.

They promote themselves as an (if not “the”) alternative to the corporate media news sources on the one hand and the ultra-right/-left crazy sources on the other.
