Enco, the cussed curmudgeon who aint ever budging…here is a quote from a history article..Racially restrictive covenants first appeared in deeds of homes in California and Massachusetts at the end of the 19th century and were then widely used throughout the U.S. in the first half of the 20th century to prohibit racial, ethnic, and religious…[Read more]

Enco, catchup w ya on Putin? What are you smoking and do you need orange juice?
I was gonna tell ya how microwave popcorn is associated with cancer. Checked and the offending chemical in the bag has been removed but there is another chemical that causes popcorn lung that also has been removed. So you might get away with microwave popcorn but it…[Read more]

Died for your freedom, fought for your freedom, fight for glory and putative patriotic slogans ad nauseum are utilized by politicians and dictators to rally the young and stupid to die for causes that are usually marginal or pretexts for unilateral aggression and utterly unjustified. Stupid people are indoctrinated and inflated until they pop and…[Read more]

Pope, i think we tend to describe experiences as spiritual when our sense impressions are heightened. So religious folks may FEEL rapturous while dancing or talking in tongues or genuflecting before god and baby jesus. Or outdoorsy people may FEEL an appreciation and sense of awe standing on a precipice looking out onto a panorama. Or maybe gazing…[Read more]

First Enco let me explain how it is i equate you with michael17 (minus the delusion) in terms of your mindset as an ideologue. You live in a fantasy world just like he does. You hold fairy tales of free markets and libertarianism sacrosanct. For instance childish and rebuttable notions of the free market place of ideas are paramount so that you…[Read more]

I know we’ve discussed it already but i am not a lover of the word, spiritual. It is just too amorphous. Effective communication typically requires avoidance of the word. Although there may be places where it resonates. This comes to mind. Ya jump into a hole in the ice and come out and roll around in the snow. Afterwards ya can say ya had a…[Read more]

Yeah the poor guy is delusional. If you are not familiar with the signs of a psychotic break i think you will upon investigation realize that michael17/johan is right down the middle. Additionally his syntax and spelling have deteriorated as he has declined.
That is why i wondered whether a person who may be more susceptible to schizophrenia…[Read more]

Belle, that was really Johny on the spot of her brother.
I reject your premise. Once a person has studied history, anthropology and religion there is zero reason to investigate religion as a potential source of knowledge about a possible after-life. I don’t see any rational reason to suppose that consciousness goes on long after the lights go…[Read more]

Enco, your apotheosis of free markets is ridiculous.
In this case it is causing a guy freewheeling in hatred to lose a lot of money. Ok, that is cool. However, the withdrawal of support depends on the contemporary mores. In another age an abolitionist or suffragette might have his backers withdraw their support for violating vile norms.
Also…[Read more]

jakelafort replied to the topic Who can rightfully claim which scriptures are/aren't valid, true, or God's word? in the forum Theism 4 years ago
It would be surprising if Gods were conceived as having no gender. Instead it is as expected a reflection of the simpletons and a projection onto and into their mythology.

Robert, that is the goal. But ya darn sure can not make that transition without intermediate steps. But it is just a pipe dream. I am not aware of anybody anywhere doing anything to change things for the better.

Enco, only a few bigots?
Imagine one world. That is what i have been thinking for a long time. Instead of good guy/bad guy and realpolitik in mindless wars how about a world-wide movement that includes basic civil rights, no dictatorships, no theocracies, no citizens willing to go to war except in defense of their country, no wars unless the top…[Read more]

Yes that is good objective evidence.
Here is a book about the early Christians that maintains that even among the cults of Rome the early Christians were freaky freaks. Sacrifices. Subterannean chambers for getting high. I forgot the drugs they used. Oh, and weird sex shit.

Oh hell yes Robert. Of course i have read about it repeatedly. I have heard it.
“Who killed Christ? The Jews killed Christ!” Those motherfuckers. Christianity loves to hate Jews. Eastern Orthodox too. And the part of that equation that is not usually recognized i think is that it is particularly troubling for some Christians to realize that JC…[Read more]

Unseen, i actually do not know much about Judaism. Closest i came was a few visits to a synagogue with relatives and in a Jewish summer camp against the instructions of my parents i had some kind of class in some kind of Judaism. I remember looking at a bible in Hebrew and how you read it backwards.
I was however illustrating the point i have…[Read more]
