Most of the active members moved to AZ except a few. TA has 20k members. Most are inactive but they also contribute to site when they like. Further TA gets about 1k visitors daily. Some of them convert members. They also participate and as a result site keeps active.
AZ is new. I am satisfied with the success AZ has got until now.

GM, you must be willfully trying to misunderstand, there’s no other explanation.
In all three of your points you refer to gun murders. @unseen, and subsequently @steveinco and I, keep referring to OVERALL murder rates as @unseen did in the original post.
I’ll admit the title of this post is misleading because it says murder-by-gun statistics…[Read more]

@gallupsmirror My take on this thread can be illustrated by the following simple figures that I have clearly made up for illustrative purposes.
Before gun control:
Gun murders: 10
Knife murders: 5After gun control:
Gun murders: 3
Knife murders: 14These figures are consistent with the conclusion that gun control reduces gun-related murders…[Read more]

@steveinco I know. If it gets that bad, I will have to rethink the situation. For now, I won’t throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater.

@SteveInCO, police are instructed to keep a 21-foot distance between them and a knife wielding attacker, but that situation may happen from time to time, where they are confronted with someone brandishing a knife. But in the few contacts I’ve had with police they were usually far closer than 21 feet, their weapon was holstered, and they weren’t…[Read more]

@SimonPaynton @Steveinco For me spiritual simply means to feel a deep connection to say for example nature and/or to deeply admire something like for example science. I don’t know if feeling a connection with something is an emotion, which perhaps it is. Perhaps being spiritual simply means feeling deeply emotional about something because that’s…[Read more]

I agree @SteveInCo. Earth has comets/meteorids trailing us and preceeding us in its trip around the Sun as well as weaving in and around our orbit. I know that these objects may seem trivial but given that those who coined the term “clearing the neighbourhood) haven’t provided any figures for just what is a dominant object (and reasoning behind…[Read more]

@SteveInCO A direct launch! It just makes everything even more outrageously shizzle-nizzle! This is one of those…off by a centimetre at the start…off by thousands of kilometers at the target?
I shouldn’t have skimped on reading about the launch. Time to read up on the entire mission…from planning to today. I wish I had a source other than a…[Read more]

@SteveinCo that’s a really funny irony, because it looks true to me! In the UK the monarch is also supposed to be defender of the faith, and Charles wants it to be more embracing, so to make it faiths, not faith. Nobody cares in the UK because the monarchy hasn’t got any real power in the political arena.
Conversely, the Prime Minister does…[Read more]

Some theists like to set up the debate in a way in which it is next to impossible to criticise religion (more importantly their religion) and their institutions.
Resident theists have recently used the following technique:
If you quote their particularily foul lines in their scriptures in addition to pointing out contradictions,…[Read more]

@SteveInCo: You never know…a bizzare aqua space rocket might thrash through the ice and come say hello. I think the betting odds on this with a london book keeper would be about 1,000,000,000,000…which is worse odds than Jamaica winning the next world cup…but you know…imagination and stuff.

@SteveInCo – of course, no need to apologise. & @Strega, What I mean by the evolutionary basis for mysticism, of which the quote from Christine Cainer is an example, is the inbuilt tendency of all living things to thrive, and to seek survival. These tendencies are not conscious, but automatic, and are a direct result of evolution and natural…[Read more]
