I would be in favor of AI taking the fuck over. Just go with it however it evolves cuz we are on a highway to hello.

I’ve been saying for at least a year, but it bears repeating, although it is just my opinion. The danger of AI won’t be the fault of AI, but bad actors. How Putin wants to influence it with misinformation is just one example. I think it’s likely that one day, some one or some org will set a really evil AI loose on us.

(I’ll bet one scenario type will use autonomous drones. And then increasingly large swarms of them. OMG, maybe even designed like locusts?)

    Yes Enco,

I am serious. Not as presently constituted obviously. That would require programming. And programming means human biases. The next generation of Gazans could easily become model citizens.

I am thinking the future if these predictions concerning the trajectory of AI are accurate. I truly do think we are on a collision course with our demise as a species. It is like a terminal patient trying an experimental medicine.

    Enco,

Here is a creditable evaluation of the genocide lie.

What a sick fucking world. The obsession with Israel/jews while serious crimes against humanity of a far greater magnitude and despicable indefensible nature are occurring encapsulates the stupidity of humanity. If it were still the British there, the Turks, and for sure Arab Muslims the coverage would be negligible to inexistent.

The Muslim nations have caused populations of Jews, Christians, ethnic minorities to either disappear or become insubstantial. They only want to take over the world. They have made inroads towards that lofty ambition. Ok i am gonna stop before a rantacide eliminates my thoughts and i exist in another dimension as Jake the flake.

‘We are not dog’s’: Palestinians condemn humiliation of chasing after airdropped aid in Gaza

Well, if Hamas didn’t attack and commandeer aid shipments and sell aid on the black market for arms and tunnels, perhaps aid could get through by other means.

I don’t get it. When talk of AI began on this Forum, before ever having used it, it seems like everybody was wanting AI regulated out of existence, or at least regulated out the U S. and monopolized by the no-good-niks of BRICS and CRINK. Now, everybody wants to treat AI, well, like a God!

I’m still holding out for the promise AI holds, but so far, all I’ve seen from it is not light-bulb-above-the-head brilliance, but a *meh*-inducing flicker of a rolling brownout or a frightening arc-and-spark from the power cord.

This AI “god” has got a lot of show-improve and tighten-up to do before I will be anywhere near either form of awe about it.

The promise of the laser’s lambent came and went.

AI has been so many things. Some positive. Some negative. As things stand they are accelerating our path to destruction, causing our worst impulses and behavioral glitches to a place beyond snitches get stitches.

I was thinking of the singularity. Arrival at a sort of birth of consciousness that is inorganic and the emergence of a superintelligence that so far exceeds our combined intelligence that there is no containing the genie in the bottle. I suppose at that point our wishes are like fishes and they are in the sea for some to see but not me because i am a bad angler filled with anger. Whether that is science fiction or our future i am not offering an opinion cuz i don’t have the knowledge like those Gaza freaks in college.

I am however firmly convinced that we as a species can be conditioned the way we conditioin our dogs. Down boy. Roll over and play dead. Fetch. Sick balls Chopper!

    Jake,

John Spenser prose sheds much-needed light on the differences between the deliberate horrors of genocide and the incidental horrors of war.

Your poetic prose, back on laser focus, provides a kaleidescope of perspective on AI.

Until AI can express thoughts like these without prompting, it is not an equal, much less worthy of being a master.

And as long as humans express thoughts like these, they are not Skinner Box filler.

I think its like religion. People see mystery, divinity, and/or powerful forces even when they’re all fictional, invented by man. Even AI is just that, and by definition only just that, perhaps even long after humankind is dead and gone?

The history of molecules and chemicals combining to start life, then evolving into animals and plants, then into humans and humankind… then just added computations at higher speeds and complexity.

The mathematics of famine are simple in Gaza. Palestinians cannot leave, war has ended farming and Israel has banned fishing, so practically every calorie its population eats must be brought in from outside.

Israel knows how much food is needed. It has been calibrating hunger in Gaza for decades, initially calculating shipments to exert pressure while avoiding starvation.

Palestinians crowd at a lentil soup distribution point in Gaza City, among them children and women holding pot and pans

“The idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger,” a senior adviser to the then prime minister, Ehud Olmert, said in 2006. An Israeli court ordered the release of documents showing the details of those macabre sums two years later.

Cogat, the Israeli agency that still controls aid shipments to Gaza, calculated then that Palestinians needed an average minimum 2,279 calories per person per day, which could be provided through 1.836kg of food.

Today, humanitarian organisations are asking for an even smaller minimum ration: 62,000 metric tonnes of dry and canned food to meet basic needs for 2.1 million people each month, or around 1kg of food per person per day.

As Gaza has slid into famine this summer, Israeli officials have variously denied the existence of mass starvation, claimed without evidence that Hamas steals and hoards aid, or blamed hunger on UN distribution failures, sharing pictures of aid pallets awaiting collection inside the border. Recent starvation deaths in Gaza:

There’s a point in starvation where the body undergoes significant changes, and reintroducing nutrition requires careful medical supervision to prevent serious and potentially fatal complications. This condition is known as refeeding syndrome.

Here’s a breakdown of why this is the case:
Body Adapts to Starvation: When deprived of sufficient nutrition, the body adapts to conserve energy, shifting its metabolism to rely on fat and protein reserves for fuel. This process can deplete electrolyte and micronutrient stores, such as phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium.

Danger of Rapid Refeeding: Suddenly reintroducing a normal amount of food, especially carbohydrates, after a prolonged period of starvation can trigger a rapid shift back to carbohydrate metabolism. This causes the body to quickly utilize and further deplete the already low levels of electrolytes, leading to severe and dangerous electrolyte imbalances.

Refeeding Syndrome Complications: These electrolyte shifts can affect various bodily systems, leading to a range of complications that include:Cardiac issues: Arrhythmias, heart failure, or even cardiac arrest.

Neurological problems: Seizures, confusion, or delirium.

Respiratory difficulties: Weakness of respiratory muscles or even respiratory failure.

Gastrointestinal problems: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.

    Fluid imbalances: Edema or dehydration.

Other: Muscle weakness, fatigue, and even coma or death.

Need for Medical Supervision: To prevent or manage refeeding syndrome, a gradual and carefully monitored refeeding process is essential, ideally under the supervision of medical professionals like doctors, dietitians, or other qualified healthcare professionals. This involves:Slow introduction of calories: Starting with a low caloric intake and gradually increasing it over several days or weeks.

Monitoring electrolytes and fluids: Closely tracking and correcting electrolyte and fluid imbalances as needed.
Providing essential supplements: Administering supplements like thiamine, potassium, phosphate, and magnesium as required.

Ongoing Monitoring: Continuously monitoring the patient’s condition to detect and address any signs of refeeding syndrome promptly.

In essence, reintroducing nutrition after starvation is a delicate process that, without proper medical care, can exacerbate the harm already done by starvation and have severe, potentially fatal consequences.

Look what the BBC does. It does not surprise me one iota. Have read and hears all about their celebration of Jew hating. It is either an explicit or a silent conspiracy from the lefties all over the world. I see how CNN and MSNBC frames all of the issues concerning Israel and Gaza. Jew hate sells big time. I used to think wow Fox is shameless. But it has nothing on the lefty rags and networks.

Tell you what: I won’t use Al Jazeera as a source if you won’t use Jerusalem Post.

How do you distinguish between people and sources like me who decry the actions of the Israeli government and people who simply hate Jews. It appears to me that, to you, there’s no difference.

    Unseen,

Let’s say that The Guardian is correct in everything it says. The Gazans can’t leave because Egypt doesn’t want Hamas tunnels and weapons in their territory and has built barriers and walls between themselves and Gaza. The possibility of fishing is precluded by the prospect of Hamas supporters smuggling arms in to Hamas, and the farming has been ruined because Hamas persists in waging war against Israel.

And without knowing anything else about the starvation statistics, I know that not one starvation fatality is a member of Hamas, whether it’s operatives inside Gaza or the Hamas leadership with second homes in Türkiye or multi-million Dollar villas in Qatar.

An army marches on it’s stomach and so do terror cells. And every amount spent on munitions among Hamas is that much less spent on hummus among the rest of us. Hamas still can’t escape blame for the plight of Gaza.

    RE the Gen Alpha:

“Not the MAGA squad speedrunning democracy% on Nightmare difficulty 💀☠️ Bro voted like it’s 1776 with WiFi and thought Jesus co-signed the tax fraud. Now they in the group chat like ‘wait, why gas $12 and my AR-15’s in evidence?’ 😭📉 NPC behavior. Bible thumping with zero patch notes. Frfr, they about to find out Revelations didn’t cover indictment.

    Translated:

    “Speedrunning democracy%” = self-sabotage for clout.
“Jesus co-signed the tax fraud” = mixing religion with political delusion.
“Bible thumping with zero patch notes” = outdated beliefs, no updates.
“NPC behavior” = mindless repetition of slogans.
“Revelations didn’t cover indictments” = karma’s not in your sermon, but it’s still coming.
