We were in contact once. She was living in a “safe” country when I knew her. I have no reason to suspect that she does not continue to live a ‘normal’ life. I can only imagine her walking with her head held high, as befits her character.

That’s good to know.  She was courageous.  I was afraid of what might happen to her.

A funny thing about the conflict in Israel and Gaza- the myriad groups and organizations that end in FOR PALESTINE. There are all of these liberal causes that hitch their wagons to For Palestine. Blacks, queers, environmental, climate change etc.

Any Arab/Muslim groups there is nothing disingenuous or incongruous. From the outset Arab Muslims have been racist/discriminatory in their beliefs and practices towards Jews and as far as i am aware that is a universal truth.

But all of these liberal causes? What a joke. Blacks in Gaza are known as slaves. That is literally how they are described in Arabic. Jews led the world in fighting for civil rights for Blacks. The Arab Muslim world continues to have places with slavery. LGBT? Find the tallest building. Crack some gay eggs. Environmental and climate change? Israelis have produced a bunch of innovation to address those issues.

And it is also funny and perhaps deliberate that it is blank for Palestine as opposed to for Palestinians. If anyone drew attention to the plight of Palestinians it would manifest an uncomfortable truth. Palestinians are treated worse in Arab Muslim nations than Israel and that would undermine the legitimacy of an illegimate smear campaign against Jews and Israel.

Palestinians in Israel (as citizens) have more legal rights than those in most Arab nations and generally have more economic opportunities than Palestinian refugees in Lebanon or Syria. There are about 2 million Arab Citizens of Israel .

Many Arab countries have hosted Palestinian refugees since the creation of Israel in 1948 and subsequent wars. However, their treatment has often been restrictive:

    Lebanon:

Palestinians are denied citizenship, even after generations of residence.
They are restricted from over 70 professions, including medicine, law, and engineering. Many live in refugee camps with limited rights and poor conditions.

    Jordan:

Initially granted many Palestinians citizenship, but in later decades, thousands had their citizenship revoked to prevent political challenges to the monarchy. Those from Gaza lack Jordanian nationality and face restrictions in employment and travel.

    Syria:

Granted Palestinians legal residency but not full rights.
After the Syrian Civil War, Palestinian refugee camps were devastated, and many were displaced again.

    Egypt:

Severely restricts Palestinian movement, particularly in and out of Gaza via the Rafah border crossing. Palestinians from Gaza are not granted citizenship even if born in Egypt.

Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, etc.)

Generally did not grant Palestinians citizenship, even after decades of residence. Kuwait expelled over 400,000 Palestinians after the 1991 Gulf War due to Yasser Arafat’s support for Saddam Hussein.

    @Reg

You reaffirmed for me that I don’t want to live in any Muslim country and I finally know why the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza is justified.

I think the three pillars that made America into the greatest democratic powerhouse ever: (a) strong, dominating military and alliances that promote (b) global trade and (c) the encouragement of trustworthy democratic elections throughout the world.

This established the US dollar as the world’s standard currency and all the advantages that entails (hint: it’s a big deal). This is the post war America of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. It was also the Republican party platform. “Globalism” is suddenly bad.

If anyone thinks turning on your democratic allies and threatening them with takeovers (plus sucking up to invading dictators) while shrinking back to an economy of isolationism and trade wars is going to make your life better, you are in for a hard lesson. The US is fast becoming viewed as a traitor nation by the free world. The dollar will become internationally worth less and less.

And wrapped up in all this for some reason, vaccines are suddenly bad, right? Yeah. the Kremlin wants you to believe Polio, smallpox, measles are great right? People lived about 30 or 40 years on average before science. You had to have 6 kids so 2 would make it to adulthood.

This is how an empire dies. Put the nail in the coffin by breaking Social Security and Medicare so bad that people get so frustrated with it and they end it. Let the elderly just fend for themselves so the wealthiest 5% can get the last bit of it. End all the federal checks and balances. Look how efficient we are. With Mussolini in charge, the trains ran on time. The world will not be better when China takes the helm. They already have a hand on the wheel. Good job America, we showed those Mexican farm workers and trans athletes who is boss.

    Agreed Robert.

I just wonder how long before impeachment proceedings. And at that point if he is not removed then i think the full on dictatorship emerges. That woops out of time to prosecute him was such BS. How much evidence do those prosecutors need?

    Fellow Unbelievers,

Wokeism, Antisemitism/Antizionism, and Pseudoscience all at taxpayer expense. And it was all on Biden’s, Obama’s, and Bush’s watches. No big loss if this dies.

Agreed, but with a caveat. That’s chump change to amount of legal tax evasion the billionaires and corporations have had legislated for themselves. Not to mention the myriads of tools they have to fool citizens. Let’s admit they buy up all politicians for nickels and dimes, unlike anything the founders had in mind. This incredible unprecedented wealth they have accumulated just makes it easier to acquire more. So… what do hapless Americans do? Elect billionaires and give them the keys. The only god given (LOL) rights you have, are afforded to you by our federal government. Let’s tear that down and see what happens. Hint. Take a look at the 5,000 years of history Pre-US Constitution.

    Robert,

A government that kept to Constitutional bounds wouldn’t be worth billionaires buying it off because attempting to buy off such a government would be self-defeating for anyone wanting to accumulate wealth.

By the way, accumulating wealth is how the poor stop being poor.

Happy with your trickle-down, are you? I’d be happy if the ultra-wealthy just paid the same tax rates I do. Since I retired early, some of my friends come to me for financial advice. They are not in good shape. Honestly, for some of them, it’s a no-retire/work-till-death situation. If Social Security fails them, it’s gonna be really rough. Hard to believe you can work your whole life and be in that situation. Just one event (divorce, medical, lawsuit, natural disaster, etc., can put you in the poor house.

    Robert,

Are you trying to out-Strawman Unseen? Reducing taxes and untaxing everyone and reducing government spending across the board isn’t “Trickle-Down” or “Trickle- Up,” but a Big Splash. And wouldn’t people of all classes be more resilient against disasters with more of their own earnings in their pocket?
