Sunday School 1 year, 5 months agoWith a cult of personality such as this, it reminds me of Middle Age Christians who walked around, flogging themselves. Sure, go ahead and punch me as long as you punch a Mexican immigrant harder.

Sunday School 1 year, 5 months agoWe have heard a great deal of the sword and the purse. Let us see what is the true meaning of this maxim, which has been so much used, and so little understood. It is, that you shall not place these powers either in the legislative or executive, singly; neither one nor the other shall have both, because this would destroy that division of powers…[Read more]

As for one AI stealing from another one… Hey, business is war. As long as they aren’t illegally hacking and are using data the other AI gives out freely, it would be difficult to mount a legal counter attack, it seems to me.

AI’s can give bad answers. For example, I asked ChatGPT for a baguette recipe to use up 4 cups of flour and it did give me a recipe which lacked any salt. I pointed out that bread without salt would be unappetizing and the AI admitted the error and modified the recipe to include salt.
So, placing too much trust in an answer that you can’t verify…[Read more]

This is a good time to mention a kind of “pollution of AI” that’s been said to be possible. That is, when one AI gets all its data from other AI, errors and hallucinations can compound.
I wish I had the time to get into these stories (and add to the AI group), but I’m in the middle of big life change.

That theme is the reality of the natural world. It is not just simple lifeforms such as the fungus among us. The untold suffering of animals being consumed alive by others just for the purpose of nutrition and without malice is a standard feature. On our property we have a private pond. I witnessed a blue heron being drowned by a snapping turtle…[Read more]

I’m not so sure the “AI war” is over so soon. DeepSeek being open source, i.e. not proprietary code, competitors can learn from its design. The story, other than about stock market realignment is about a realignment of how LLMs can be developed and marketed because of the sudden drop in development prices. So in my opinion, the lower costs of…[Read more]

What characterizes mature cosmic horror from its predecessors/progenitors is the impersonal and amorphous nature of the threat. Rather than being a monster, as in the movie Alien (yes, a cosmic horror) or invaders, as in The War of the Worlds, in mature cosmic horror the threat simply is there as a fact, not because it wants to be there or has…[Read more]

In case anyone wants to know what happened in a nutshell. American tech giants have been working on AI in the hopes of monetizing it and dominating the market, generating monstrous amounts of money. I’m talking about Google (Gemini AI) , ChatGPT (OpenAI backed by Musk and others), plus several other major players and numerous minor ones. You can…[Read more]

I think Annihilation, which didn’t do well at the box office will go down in history as a landmark in cinematic history like Blade Runner, which also didn’t knock it out of the park in terms of box office on its initial release, but now is recognized as a one of a small handful of classics.
While the roots of cyberpunk easily go back at least as…[Read more]

I have been selling stocks and buying income generating bonds lately. My risk tolerance is inversely proportional to my age, LOL.
Is it just a little ironic that China is creating efficient AI that will eventually destroy employment as they know it.
