Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoThe U.S. is more vulnerable than Trump and his advisors seem to believe. He instituted tariffs supposedly to benefit American workers and the auto industry. In response, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum shows that Mexico actually holds American auto workers’ jobs in her hand. Trump apparently didn’t notice that the American auto industry was…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoEnco, loved your explanation of your edits.
As a youngster I had a massive crush on Antony Hopkins, having watched him play Pierre in Ā a BBC TV series adaptation of War & Peace.
The best part of the SOTL movie was the fact I wanted Hannibal to win, even with the atrocities heād carried out. Ā The movie WAS the villain.
He must be 90 by now, but…[Read more]

That movie gave me a strong aversion to ever trying fava beans or chianti, as well as an unhealthy aversion to moisturizer.
But surprisingly not to androgynous characters on screen. Milton Berle, Curly Howard, and Bugs Bunny in drag were more positive examples.

Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoI can see a skit in which Putin is feeding on Trump’s brain with fava beans and a good chianti.
Fava beans was a staple of the atlantic slave trade. Ever have em? I like em sauteed in olive oil with pasta. Never found any good ones in cans but i know a Syrian guy who says such exist.

Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoRobert and Simon,
It’s like I’ve said earlier: It’s better if Putin has to fear multiple mini-superpowers than just one superpower.
Of course, this means that Europeans will have to spend less taxdollars on butter and more on guns and adopt free-market solutions to things like health care and housing. This will also mean Europeans expelling…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoTrump is learning the hard way that when you try to force people to do things, you are actually giving them an opportunity to go to a Plan B. Trying to force Ukraine to accept giving up land or mineral resources, countries like Poland, France, and Finland seem ready to step up to keep that from happening. Soon, the entire E.U. may unite against…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 3 months agoJake,
I tried reading Martin Heidegger’s Being and Time referred to in the article in college. After a few pages of that gibberish, I gave up trying to understand it. Perhaps that was the design of Martin’s dasein. The only thing the book is good for is a doorstop, preferably to chock the door for the knock on the door at night.

I canāt stand that guy. He is quite the linguist though. I have read passages of his very carefully and consider him a highly skilled sophist.
So are you trying to say that Chomsky is a cunning linguist? All right, I’ll let myself out.
Well, it would be a better use of his mouth than his speeches.
