Sunday School 4 years, 3 months agoIt is my hunch that biology fucks up consciousness. The unconscious is not going to be an impediment to ratiocination, production of art or any other endeavor. The unconscious is a vestige and the greater part of our existence. So move over Beethoven, fuhgettaboitit Mozart, and Mark Twain all the way to Davy Jones locker.

Sunday School 4 years, 3 months agoYeah, Reg, well said.
And i assume as complexity increases consciousness is enhanced. And considering the suggested difference in information processing it is reasonable to assume that it will look at us the way we look at amoeba.
I wonder whether it will use drugs?

Sunday School 4 years, 3 months agoHoly cock balls! Was that vid for real? Was that an actress or an android? I gotta listen again cuz the ponies were diverting my attention. The definition given early in the vid about consciousness makes sense to me.

Sunday School 4 years, 3 months agoI don’t think there is any way for us to predict the trajectory of super intelligent sentient AI. I just don’t think our example will be probative so trying to extrapolate or guess is fun but it is just guessing.
I look forward to AI giving us their evaluation of literature. I am quite sure there are some bad inclusions in the Harvard Classics.

Unseen, allergy to social engineering?
Churches, schools, nationalism, advertising, echo chambers on social media, Fox, CNN. I wish it were so. Although i suppose it is the perception of manipulation that is the bugaboo. Jews will not replace us-not that many Jews are competing against you for those jobs..
I skimmed a few articles on the topic…[Read more]

It seems like obesity is a risk factor for every damn illness or disease. 90 years old and fat? Idk but every single time i see a pic of a 100 yr old it is a skinny mini person.
If USA socializes medicine and it should maybe we can have incentives relating to weight. Obesity is directly related to our ridiculous health care bill. So it might be…[Read more]

Unseen, that was quite an informative article from Hill you linked.
It is as FUBAR as one might imagine and then some.
Capitalism has run amok. We gots da best government a business can buy. Health of our citizens? meh… Let em eat cake…and boy do they…Americans are obese…and that is good for business.

Enco, i was referring to competition among cable companies. You’re finding alternatives is irrelevant to the point. Big businesses in industries like cable, pharma and gas have de facto monopolies. Whether one finds an alternative does nothing to obviate the issues that come with price fixing. Big business is like big government in that it wields…[Read more]

Robert, don’t deceive yourself. You should consider going someplace safe where there is no flooding like Kentucky.
Free markets are more efficient than the free market place of ideas. At least there is that. If the market were restricted to intelligent and reasonable ones like Strega, Robert, Fronkey et al then we would be able to weed out…[Read more]

Even you Autumn are not wont to use august.

Language evolves. Eventually it will be good English construction when one says/writes, “amount of people.” That hurts me mentally. I am okay with aint. Aint you? As a kid aint was verboten. There was a children’s ditty, “Don’t say aint, your mother will faint, your father will fall in a bucket of paint, sister will die, brother will cry, dog will…[Read more]

I recommend it. Thought it very well done. Good history and evokes visceral pain. Also for the conservatives who think everyone in USA has an equal opportunity it might make them think it is not as they imagined.
I wish there would have been something on the role of Christianity.…[Read more]

Sunday School 4 years, 3 months agoUnseen i don’t know if it is an absolute or relative. Well it is not an absolute, no. Temporal relativity is what i am not accepting. Pope, perhaps you are not familiar but an Einsteiny macaque began washing fruit and others copied. So washing becomes cultural. A learned behavior simply adopted by doing as others are doing. I simply wonder how ritualized behavior originates and becomes coded. I probably read an explanation in what is his face-the imprint on ducks guy-Lorenz.…[Read more]
