@Enco- It is extremely popular in North and South Carolina and parts of Georgia.
I spend 3-4 weeks a year in GA and I have never heard the term. I will be there again for Thanksgiving this year and I will remember to ask about it when I am having some fried Okra………….now I have a very weird word association in my mind which will be…[Read more]

On reading the Darwin Award from the SAV link above I too had a different picture painted in my head before I read it fully. Shag and shagger have a different meaning here in Ireland. (Yes, you are correct). Yesterday I heard some girls say that “Colin Farrell is still a shag” or as I once said to a Christian brother in school; “Go away you dirty…[Read more]

The Russians can ignore Putin’s lies but nobody should ignore Led Zep.

When I first saw this photograph of 2 Republicans at a Trump rally in 2018 (in Ohio, I think), I remember thinking that the GOP was never going to recover. Many are still falling for the corrupter in chief. I was sad and angry at the same time and then just very disappointed. America, what have you just gone and done!

I think I would disagree somewhat about both Russia and Ukraine having the same problem regarding their troops. Ukraine has several factions, some from Ukraine and some from neighboring countries that have been fighting Russia for years. Some like the Muslim Tartar brigade from Crimea or Chechen ârebelsâ strike fear and horror into Russian tro…[Read more]

Thatâs an interesting point raised about ethical interest and self-interest diverging because self-interest may be found in obedience.
If you just obey the Dear Leader then you have nothing to worry about. The leader provides for all your basic needs and gets you to the half way point on your âhierarchy of needsâ quest. If the Leader tells you t…[Read more]

About 20 years ago I was forced to endure a company bonding day. Hell is real. I was informed I had to attend. I told my manager that he would have my resignation letter the following morning. I only agreed when it was switched to a working day that I was being paid for. It was only switched when my co-workers heard that I was refusing to attend,…[Read more]

A conversation with my friend in Zaporizhzhia last night was interrupted by the bombing of the power grid. This happened across Ukraine in a spiteful retaliation by Russian forces for the recapture of so much of the north east over the last few days. Over the kids screams I could hear the men shouting and swearing. âFuck Putinâ and âDeath to all I…[Read more]

I have never had any allegiance for any group or been a fan boy of anything. I will watch any sports event only if I think it will be time well spent. I don’t care which team is playing. I just want to see a good match. I don’t understand the mentality of someone who devotes their life to following a football team. I have seen grown men in tears…[Read more]

There was a “group” baptism in a school somewhere this week and the kids parents only found out when one rang home to ask for dry clothing to be brought in!!

It is difficult to imagine King Charles 3 as the head of the Church of England, the Church founded on the family moral values of Henry 8th. I think Charles is descended from Henry’s sister, Margaret but I don’t know much about the royal blood line. I used to drive past Buckingham Palace every day on my work commute. They never waved at me so I…[Read more]
