Sunday School 8 months agoFollowing up on Pope’s cold calculations.
“Even then, cold objectivity leads me to concluding that there has never been an effectively humane solution, such that even a huge asteroid wiping out that area naturally, i.e. sans human intervention, could have been better for humanity.”
I naturally/kneejerkedly assume Pope is referring to Israel/Gaza…[Read more]

Sunday School 8 months agoA wider Scope for Mr. Pope:
For what it’s worth, your generalization doesn’t apply to me.
I did mention once that some of Israel’s actions have the same outcomes as war crimes, but I don’t obsess over them, except for the Palestinian children who have no say.
Even then, cold objectivity leads me to concluding that there has never been an effe…[Read more]

And easier for outsiders to accept. (How cold is that?)
Wow Pope, that’s some statement. Is it co…[Read more]

Science Is Not “Truth” but can it be “Holy Shit” still?
Jim Horgan forgets that it is precisely the “impure” practical uses of “pure” science that makes it “Holy Shit” science. We need more science channelled toward “Holy Shit” purposes like healing diabetic foot wounds with the speed of Dr. “Bones” McCoy on Star Trek.
And the people…[Read more]

World of Woo: RFK Jr.’s conspiracies make it into MAHA draft report.
I’m actually glad that RFK Jr.’s report didn’t say anything about food eyes that would probably require gallons drank over long periods of time to have any I’ll effect, as with flouride and artificial sweetners.
And I’m glad the report didn’t regard guns and motor v…[Read more]

Sunday School 8 months agoHave a great week Everyone!
“My morality isn’t borrowed from a Bronze Age tribe—it’s built on empathy, not authority. Morality needs neither heaven nor hell to function—just a working conscience and the ability to think beyond yourself. I sleep just fine knowing there’s no one keeping score.”

Sunday School 8 months agoAm not in any way negating or minimizing the significance of Trump as a criminal. But when i ask myself why his transgressions are so infuriating i think it is because his dalliances with our democracy threaten our institutions, our norms and our values. Sunday School 8 months agoThe mathematics of starvation: how Israel caused a famine in Gaza
The mathematics of famine are simple in Gaza. Palestinians cannot leave, war has ended farming and Israel has banned fishing, so practically every calorie its population eats must be brought in from outside.
Israel knows how much food is needed. It has been calibrating hunger…[Read more]

Sunday School 8 months, 1 week agoStrega that is certainly part of it.
One thing is clear to me if it was not already. Israel is an absolute must. No more being subject to the vagaries and vicissitudes. Discontent and political strife will always find its way to Jews as scapegoats. Nothing changes.
