Sunday School 2 weeks, 4 days agoTo ensure my wording was correct, I got Chat-GPT to edit and verify where needed. There are 2 different questions:
1. Can severe trauma during pregnancy alter the biology of the developing fetus?
2. Can trauma experienced by a parent before conception leave epigenetic effects that are later detectable in children?
The…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 weeks, 4 days agoEnco,
I can’t remember the title of book that described the anxiety of pregnant hiding from Nazis while pregnant and how all the kids were mental. But the imagery it created in my mind sure has sticky fingas.
There is no shortage of trauma in humans that would make ideal subjects to study this topic.
In other news every frickin time i zap…[Read more]

I had a similar ‘tug-of-war’ with an election official once. I asked him “Why is the Bible on display on all the tables in the polling booth”. He gave me some bs about it being official policy based on the Constitution and demanded it back.
I then told him it was only half a bible because it was only ‘ The NT’ but was still 100% illegal. I held…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 weeks, 5 days agoEnco,
Yea interesting vid on Lamarck.
I don’t know if anything got passed on to me epigenetically. Two generations removed from Germans murdering my family. Plus i am a half breed.
I could not find it on a quick search but i read about pregnant Jewish women somewhere in Eastern Europe who hid and later gave birth. All of the offspring had…[Read more]

News about the lark with the Ark in the park is always a source of happiness for me. I still think about this headline every so often:
Kentucky Noah’s Ark sues insurance company over damage caused by heavy rains.

Sunday School 2 weeks, 6 days agoGreater threat of achieving power in USA, USI or some version of a Dominionist Christian? Which would be worse?
I am pretty sure the kneejerk response is gonna be far right Christians are a legit threat of achieving power. Islam is a fringe fad among far left and young.
What do i think? I guess it depends on whether far left or far right is…[Read more]

Was not familiar with Dan. What an ignorant moron.
One more example that being an atheist in and of itself is no assurance of intelligence.

Sunday School 2 weeks, 6 days agoEnco, I can’t sign on to your read of Lamarck. I see him as a rationalist who sought to explain the natural world. Acquired characteristics passed on to offspring that are the stuff of change in that era is impressive. And while he did not know the mechanism in terms of the biology he was proposing evolution. And we are learning that the unknown…[Read more]

cooperative breeding is also evolving 🙂The Homo erectus cooperative breeding was the culmination of a long process of peeling un-weaned infants away from their mothers, that might have taken 2-4 million years. Sunday School 3 weeks agoHope you are right Reg about it being a small minority. If you are only including those who go out in kefiyeh’s and scream the slogans then i think that is true. In terms of actual views i don’t believe it to be the case. Certainly not in the USA. And from what i have read many places have greater numbers of anti-Israel/Jew like Belgium,…[Read more]

Sunday School 3 weeks agoEnco, the inheritability of acquired characteristics is not wrong. It is part of the story of genetics. Mendel’s rules are part of that story also but the simplest version. Maybe there is an analogy between Newton’s understanding and Einstein’s. But the inheritability is beyond dispute. It is factual if not satisfactual to you.
It’s role in…[Read more]

Sunday School 3 weeks agoYet even if you put together all the hardcore Islamist loons and their allies on the braindead European Left, these people still amount to a small minority. How then have they become so seemingly powerful and threatening?
