Case in point: Tam Lin by Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention
This is a song sung with inimitable flourish by the legendary Sandy Denny. It’s based on a Celtic folk tale about the romance between a fair maiden named Janet and a handsome but cursed elfin prince named Tam Lin. I’ve begged the major song reactors to do a reaction to this song with…[Read more]

A 10/9/24 concert in a small setting where, lacking the giant video screens they use in their major concerts, they just show up and play virtually nonstop, putting on exactly the same show they would for a crowd of 50,000, musically speaking. Sadly, my favorite Pau song, 23, seems to have been dropped from their recent playlists. And, much as I’d…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoIf you walk around all day in tight fitting shoes, would you be expecting to feel a sense of relief or would you miss them after taking them off? If the former, then get new shoes and forget about the old way you used to walk. If the latter, then put them on every morning so you don’t have to feel you are losing out.

Sunday School 1 year, 8 months agoMy friends in Sarasota are expecting storm surges double that of Helene….and that was a record. They have evaced already. The path of Milton is still unpredictable. Stay safe!
Hope nobody nearby hears “the voice of rage and ruin”.

Sunday School 1 year, 9 months agoSimon – Those things sound pretty strange to me. Everyone’s there to worship nothing? What’s the point?
Exactly the same as what happens in every other church, I guess.

Sunday School 1 year, 9 months ago@unapologetic – Re. Sunday Assembly: No thanks. I am pretty antisocial.
I went to one out of curiosity but it was more of a “I am not-religious but I am very spiritual” gathering. I asked if they could be more specific as “demons are spirits too”. They were not happy with that.
Then I noticed it. There, resting against the back wall. It was…[Read more]

Yes, but only in a probabilistic sense. It’s arrival at the atom would be in the ‘classical’ sense.

Sunday School 1 year, 9 months agoHave a great week everyone!
For ages, a deadly conflict has been waged between a few brave men and women of thought and genius upon the one side, and the great ignorant religious mass on the other. This is the war between Science and Faith. The few have appealed to reason, to honor, to law, to freedom, to the known, and to happiness here in this…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 9 months ago@jakelafort – absquatulate, a great word to have in the vocab.
In future, in a debate with a theist, should I fail to expostulate, I will just absquatulate rather than remonstrate and I won’t care who’s looking, especially when the theist is more intransitive than the verb 🙂
