Sunday School 9 months, 2 weeks agoAt some point in the past I remember thinking that religious fundamentalism was a byproduct of whatever religion someone followed. But it is not. It is the natural destination to arrive at if you stay the course of the indoctrination process. There are just degrees of how “mental” people become once they reach the destination point.

Sunday School 9 months, 3 weeks agoJust about everyone outside China underestimates China. They added about 357GW of wind and solar capacity in 2024. The total in the EU was about 80GW and the USA, a maximum of 60GW. China will probably be further ahead this year, around the 500GW mark. Yes, they are still investing in coal but have defined targets to phase it out in the long…[Read more]

Reg the Fronkey Farmer started the topic I have a spiritual relationship with Jesus!! in the forum Atheism 9 months, 3 weeks ago
I have decided upon a meaning for the word ‘spiritual’ because everyone who uses the word refuses to, or are unable to, explain to me what they mean by it. So for me, it is a socially polite term for “supernatural”. And ‘supernatural’ is camouflage for the word ‘non-existent’. It attempts to avoid stigma while still pointing to non-material be…[Read more]

Sunday School 9 months, 4 weeks agoI think the writer is “tilting at windmills” and is arguing a point that does not need to be made. It could even be deemed a “strawman argument”. Her critique seems aimed more at an imagined “scientific arrogance” than at how science is genuinely practiced. Very few scientists claim perfect objectivity; rather, they emphasize the method as t…[Read more]

Sunday School 10 months agoFrom the above linked article…..Trump is wreaking havoc, much of it irreparable, and he has three and a half more years — at a minimum — to continue his wrecking-ball presidency. Sunday School 10 months agoYes, it turns out that four legs are good but two legs are better. At least now that the pigs have been found walking on two legs. I was confused too. But when I checked with the Ministry of Truth, I discovered that pigs have always walked in this manner. I was mistaken in my thinking that they ever walked on four. The Leader is good.

Sunday School 10 months agoYes, I would agree with you Strega and I now have Sky News back on my watch list. Overall the BBC is still very good so when they are biased it is really noticeable. I enjoy Question Time and I have no problem hearing diverse opinions in such a setting, especially as the host is normally very good at moderating the discussions. But the news…[Read more]
