Not only is the Universe expanding but the rate of expansion is accelerating.
All objects that have mass (mass not weight) will exert a “pull” on each other when close enough to each other. Think of the moon and the Earth and the Sun. The Earth “thinks” it is shooting in a straight line through Space. But is it being pulled towards the Sun bec…[Read more]

A letter highlighting fallacies in Biblical anti-homosexuality arguments was sent to radio personality Dr. Laura Schlessinger:
Dear Dr. Laura,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend…[Read more]

@rhonjon – I often recall the sad story of Hypatia:
The following is a description of a religious riot which took place in Alexandria during the early days of the Church: “Among the many victims of these unhappy tumults was Hypatia, a maiden not more distinguished for her beauty than for her learning and her virtues. Her father was Theon, the…[Read more]

We need to bear in mind that Biblical attitudes towards human sexuality have a tendency to incline many Christians towards a hideous sense of moral piety. This inclination leads many of them to appear as if they spend every waking minute thinking about the sex lives of other people. To any rational human being this obsession appears as an objective…[Read more]

What if Paul was a gay man? It would not be the first time it was debated. Same with Jesus himself but who cares?

Atheism and Spirituality 3 years, 4 months agoHi rhonjon – I often wonder what it will be like when I die.
It will feel the same to you as the year before you were born does now.
How many songs have you heard that never had the sensation of being coincidental to what you were currently doing? I think we overestimate the amount of times something like that happens to us.

Sunday School 3 years, 4 months agoReg wrote – I think public investment in good metro and bus systems is vital to help change attitudes. Capital expenditure on this is a long term investment.
Enco replied – Investments are voluntarily made and are done with intention of showing a rate of return. Alas, the “investments” in rail and buses fit neither of these descriptions.

Sunday School 3 years, 4 months agoI have a car and an e-bike. I almost always use the e-bike for work and shopping. It is faster to get around on, much less expensive to run and I never have to hunt for a parking space. I can take in on the train (outside of rush hour) at no extra cost and still get to see work clients. It all about changing attitudes. If it is raining I can g…[Read more]

Sunday School 3 years, 4 months agoReligion has been described as the light that shines in the darkness. It supplied answers to the bigger existential questions in life when we had no better answers. But now we see religion for what it really is. We understand the psychological reasons why people believe in the gods they believe in. We now understand enough about how the mind…[Read more]

She said this recently in SC when kicking off her campaign. Yes, she is very pro-Israel but John Hagee is not.

@DrBob – I do not know what it is about my previous post that you do not get. Later this year the Internet will be full of “deep fake” videos. IT will make the badly produced and grainy conspiracy videos look even sadder. Many people will have no clue that they are fakes and will continue to be unable of telling the difference between reality and fantasy. Fox News will be apoplectic when they see MTG and Lauren Boebert in…[Read more]

Sunday School 3 years, 4 months agoIt would be unsettling for Barry Goldwater that such a case needed to be taken to court. Can you hear him and William F. Buckley debating that on a panel show? I wonder what he w…[Read more]
