Politics 1 year, 2 months agoUkraine was not “part of Russia” in the sense of always being a subordinate region—it had distinct periods of autonomy and foreign rule. Russia gradually annexed much of Ukraine in the 17th and 18th centuries, fully integrating it into the Russian Empire by the late 18th century. While it was a republic of the USSR, it had its own identity, c…[Read more]

Politics 1 year, 2 months agoWell, it’s time for everyone to write and tell their GOP legislators at every level plus their governors that Trump is making a widespread turn toward the Democrats a near certainty if he continues down the road he’s on, starting with the writer’s vote.

Politics 1 year, 2 months agoI really thought that the Veterans would be spared from the cuts (as the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins claimed). But it seems like they won’t be. I am friendly with a few who are working or living in Ireland and they are not happy!

For years, Ale, the youngest sister, was the quiet and more introverted one. Sometimes not looking totally confident on stage at the start of their rise, she has finally blossomed into a person who can come out alone before her sisters and hold the audience in the palm of her hand.

I’m sure everyone’s seen Ezra Klein’s video by now about this administration’s strategy to hit all American’s hard, daily, with news about this or that disruption of government services and entitlement funding. What’s stuck in my…[Read more]

Politics 1 year, 2 months agoI decided sometime during Trump’s campaign that he couldn’t possibly not understand that his proposed tariff policy combined with his intended mass deportation of a large proportion of our farm workers would devastate the economy.
So, yeah, it’s intentional. Thom Hartmann is stating what was obvious to me.

@ Enco
Oh…your unconditional announcement that you were leaving was premature or a feint of some sort so you could lurk in the shadows to p0unce when you saw the opportunity.
My views are not black and white like those who think Israel or Hamas can do no wrong or no right.
The creation of Israel was a mistake brought about by the hubris of…[Read more]

As Yoda might say.
In a press conference today, asked why he is holding negotiations to end the war with Ukraine with just Russia and no Ukraine, he basically blamed the war on Ukraine for forcing Russia to invade because Ukraine decided not to cede more territory to Russian control. I suppose Ukraine will be informed what Putin and Russia…[Read more]

Sunday School 1 year, 2 months ago“Unfortunately, there are two million terrorists in Gaza. Two million. Liri was in their homes, and the children—yes, even the children—are part of this. It’s not just those carrying rifles and wearing green headbands. The so-called uninvolved civilians are not uninvolved at all. And, unfortunately, we’re going to have to fight them all.”

Sunday School 1 year, 2 months agoIt is funny how our interests broaden as we age….
I find the broader my range of interests, the less complicated life becomes. When I am on a long walk or hike, at some point I remember that I am not just observing nature, but that I am part of it. It is not external to me. Of course, you already know what I mean 🙂
