Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoMy perception of the dynamics of inculcating beliefs and free thought are diametrically opposite of yours, Enco.
I see the viruses of the mind as being preeminent and largely determinative. Most of us born into Palestinian families with connections to Hamas would be of a kind with the majority. And you can superimpose that hypothetical fetus…[Read more]

This is the kind of language anti-semites used in the run up to Naziism. It is no coincidence that Autumn left this website around when some of you started saying shocking dehumanising things that go far beyond simple criticism of religion. I am, at this point, embarrassed to be associated with some of you and this website in the last few…

“Kaj Sxxxxxn”? How do you pronounce that? And does this Insurance Commissioner give special deals on premiums to adult bookstores? There might be some mutual back-scratching going on there.
😁Jake,
The Granite State New Hampshire is also pretty high up there on percentage of Unbelievers as well. Their motto “Live Free Or Die”…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoSorry you feel that way Davis.
I imagine i am included among the untermensch of Atheist Zone. I don’t think it is as you imagine it. I have seen how you ascribe thoughts to me that were never present.
In Robert’s quote i think it has to be taken in context. If we changed the context and portrayed lets say some poor isolated, alienated and in…[Read more]

Since we’re talking about plays on words, how about:
“Raw puns’ll let your hair down”

I’ll be Biden my time thinking about whether that is true.My favorite sandwich spread is Hamas because it’s ground chick pees when they see us coming with swords brandished.

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months ago@Unseen – Does this qualify: “Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like bananas”?
If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
Oh wait, that is a paraprosdokian sentence, not a lexophile one. 🙂

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months ago@Enco – There is no such thing as an “Ex-Marine”. They would wince and grit their teeth to hear that term.
Yes, I could hear them shouting at me as I wrote the words 🙂 Not even a former marine. Once a marine, always a marine. They earn the title.

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoStrega, how cool would it be if Vermont were officially known as the Godless State. Abutting the granite state is the pristine godless and green state of Vermont.
Stroll through rural Tennessee and you will feel like an alien visiting a foreign planet. So many frighteningly backwards locales in USA..

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoWhere I grew up in London, religion was the name of your community rather than any sort of path to enlightenment via a god. There are so many atheists, the word ‘atheist’ is rarely used as it’s pretty much the default position.
Yes, you may declare as a Hindu for example, but in most cases that’s to do with ceremony and community rather than spi…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoYeah i don’t think our personal circles or enounters are a reliable way to ascertain or even probative.
In my own small circle it is lots of atheist. The Jewish side of my family is atheist. The European is lip service Christians. And then how do you even know with simple people who don’t seem to have a world view?

Man, you are a social butterfly! I’ll have what you’re having!🍻
Outside of Professors in college, I have little success with meeting professed Atheists.
I met one gal in college who said she was Atheist, but we didn’t hit it off and had different schedules.
There was an Atheist group that met in the local Books-A-Million, but they met…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months ago@Enco – I would think that 43% is accurate. Almost all the Americans I know are atheists. I have friends in CA, GA, and NY and I am struggling to think of any that would be religious. I sometimes work with a guy from rural Alabama who is an ex-marine. He is a militant atheist and said almost all his squad were atheists. That surprised me. I th…[Read more]

Sunday School 2 years, 6 months agoSome years ago, I was manning the Atheist Ireland information table with a few colleagues on the main street in Dublin. We would always let people approach us rather than stopping them on the street. Same approach as the Jehovah Witness trinity beside us. On our left a Free Palestine group began setting up their own table. It was soon joined by a…[Read more]
