@Unseen sorry your right about the terminologi.
No you are not just trying to save lives, you are trying to save human lives on the expense of another animal’s life. I do not see humans as a special species, in comparison to an animal. I see us humans as just another animal, nothing special. And no I do not think that elderly nor children should…[Read more]

They are a breed, not a race. A breed is a set of physical and behavioral characteristics. If you could breed the gameness and unpredictability of pitbulls out…[Read more]

Davis replied to the topic Austerity has failed. An open letter from Piketty to Merkel in the forum Politics 10 years, 10 months ago
Pretty much. Breaking someones left leg and right arm and expecting them to catch up is about as reasonable as ripping open a countries currency to limitless international speculation and being shocked when things go bananas.
Of course Greece can recover…it simply depends on the rules that all parties set. Most of the rules thrown out…[Read more]

There are a few cases to consider.
The background of the 1953 debt accords came 8 years after the war, when Germany was under occupation and management by the Allies, including having a constitution and massive social and legal reforms imposed. The country had also been split, lost territory, taken in 10% of its population as refugees,…[Read more]

@unseen it is not a satellite though for a brief time it was. Probe is better or perhaps someone here knows the best term.

Now I know people whom have had both american and british pit bulls. Which never attacked anyone, they where the sweetest more adorable dogs you could imagine. They even stood guard when children where crying and stuff like that.
The key was that the dogs, got a lot of exercise and was treated as a dog should be treated with love and care.…[Read more]

Lars replied to the topic Idiotic appointment of Danish Secretary of Science and Research in the forum Politics 10 years, 10 months ago
@Unseen most will, they do not acctualy care, as long as the Secretary does not enforce creationism in school and as long, as he can keep his believes to him self (though at the moment it does not look like it).
@Gallup Yes if you have a just smile and wave attitude about it, things are great. But pop the hood and not every things is golden.

Thanks.
I think, once that feature becomes well known, it will help make non-nested threads a lot more comprehensible. @Unseen was the most articulate complainer about that, it will be interesting to see what he thinks after using it a while.

PopeBeanie replied to the topic PLEASE let's have black text, not gray in the forum Small Talk 10 years, 10 months ago
I’m okay with the gray, but also prefer black for more contrast, as will many people without super eyesight.
@Unseen, I just use Ctrl-Scrollwheel to adjust font size in Windows.

@Unseen, having the clock set to UTC doesn’t bother me much (though I had to experiment to determine the timezone). As I said, I’m used to using UTC in certain contexts. It could very well confuse someone else, however.
Non-threaded topics have a distinct advantage (which this forum *doesn’t* exploit properly, ironically enough) in that for a…[Read more]

It is a debatable topic. Most (almost all) forum software do not use threaded replies. Here are examples.

@Unseen this can be mitigated by doing @ signs like I just did.
We had one frequent user who simply *would not* use the threads properly, and her replies would end up at the bottom. So threading isn’t a cure all.
One advantage to NOT threading is it’s easy to go to the first unread comment, then just keep reading, With a threaded post, they…[Read more]
